EFR Turbo Speed sensor on a Platinum sport

So who has got their EFR Turbo speed sensor working on their platinum sport? Is it possible? How did you get it going? Thanks |

Should just supply your 5v in and get a square wave back on one of the DPI's. Shouldn't be a difficult install may have to call it something goofy in the software like the Vehicle speed source so you can make some sense of the readings.

I've used turbo speed sensors before but they all had a signal conversion box sending an analog voltage. On the box you set the number of vanes (basically number of blades including splitter blades) and it uses that to figure out when one revolution has passed.

slightly off the topic as i run a ViPEC V88 but i am in process of fixturing the same speed sensor.
my ECU has a digital port for Turbo RPM but it is limited to 500 Hz. the BW EFR sensor does divide the signal from the 14 vanes by 8, converts to Hz, and outputs that signal. assume 120,000 RPM X 14 blades = 1,680,000 signals per minute 1,680,000 / 60 = 28,000 signals per second 28,000 / 8 = 3500 Hz out of sensor at 120,000 turbo RPM (sensor automatically divides by 8) since my ECU is limited to 500 i am building a divided module composed of two chips which each divide by four. therefore at 120,000 (over the recommended by BW 116,000 rpm limit) my max signal will be 438. if the Haltech has such a limit you could easily fixture something similar. here's the chip: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/308/MC10EP33-D-19197.pdf i expect to have the chips monday and will hand them off to someone local to fixture into a box. maybe something similar would work w the Haltech. the other option is to use something similar to the roadragegauge.com convertor. it converts to an analog signal but the formula for conversion, while not complex, is more than my ECU will do. This could be accomplished with an arduino, Which would allow for custom programming to give whatever output you need, including serial data.
