e8 software!?

the software for the E8 that haltech offers for download on their website (v1.62) will not connect with my E8. It will not let us 'go online'. my friend says when he tuned his he had to get a different version from somewhere else, he says he remembers it being version 1.82 or something. anyone here know what they used for their E8 and where they got it? any help is appreciated, thanks.

It depends on what firmware the ecu got. There is also version 1.59 software for the E-8.
What is the message you're seeing on the secreen?
Is this a brand new E-8 or was it used or tuned by someone else allready?

Unfortunately the only way that you can tell what firmware is on the ECU is to go online with it, you might wanna try version 1.59 to see if connects.

Also, are you using a true serial port, or a usb to serial adapter? what operating sytem?

USB adapter, microsoft (newest version, less than a year old), where can i get version 1.59?

I believe 1.62 is being shipped currently.
I've worked on one FC with an E8 with 1.62 a couple of months ago.
My E8 also came with 1.62 last month.

some of the bac controls are different on 1.62

and has anyone else noticed that it doesn't save your datalogging parameters? you have to input them every time.

Yes, there are some improvements in 1.62 over 1.59, the BAC control the Close Loop Boost control to name a couple but the dattaloging is buggy. For example, when the data is displayed in the datalog analyzer the Y axis can not be adjusted which used to function well in 1.59.

dude are you configuring both the USB --> serial dongle and halwin to the same serial port???

you need to do this for it to work.

I have the thing plugged into the USB, and the haltech set on com port 3, it says all the others are in use already.

I was datalogging today with '1.62' and didn't have to input the parameters everytime.
