E8 with Haltech wideband unit
how do i read the wideband in normal AFR's? all i can do is get the datalogger to show it in volts, and for some reason it only reads 1 volt or less? i have the brown wire wired in, which should be 5v (wideband) wire. is this a computer/e8 setting problem or a wiring problem? id like to get this badboy working ASAP!

If its reading under 1 volt then you probably connected the wrong wire, the analog outs on these units are really easy to fry. I fried the ones on my innovative unit (identicle to the haltech unit with a different sticker) and they replaced it under waranty.
The current haltech software only supports either volts or lambda, and lambda only if connected to a spare ad instead of the O2 sensor input. The older software supports AFR. The best thing to do is have it display in the datalog in volts and convert it to afr using excel. |
I believe what you have to do is connect the Wideband's output to the Spare A/D 3 input, to get the AFR displayed. Some older units of the wideband gauges, both innovate and haltech, had some issues with internal grounding of the units, but this was fixed and like you said, warranty repaired.
You shouldnt have a problem if you've connected it right, so just make sure you use the right wire from the controller as well as properly ground it. |
I talked to Allen (13b-RX3) and i think i found my problem. i had the controller hooked up to the 02 input for closed loop, which apparently only reads narrowband. i will hook it up to a spare A/D when i get the chance. however, when i go to the E8 software (ver. 1.62), the A/D inputs dont have the options for a wideband O2.

It reads wideband too, but can only display volts in datalogs, 1.71 can only display lambda in datalogs on the spare A/D or volts from the 02 sensor input
and in 1.62 its its called uego sensor

With 1.62 the A/F ratio can be viewed in the datalogs.

okay, so do i need to rewire it to spare A/D 2, or can i leave it wired into the o2 sensor wire? (the orange wire with the gray shield)? also, it does have a uego sensor option! i didnt know what that was so thank you!

Okay, got it rewired into spare a/d, havent had a chance to mess with it yet though, Ill probably have more software questions coming up here soon. in other news i was informed by 13b-rx3 that i can use a PWM output as a tacho signal, and now i have a tach! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive never been able to get trailing ignition to function right with the stock coil, so its been unplugged leaving me tachless :(. its nice to know when to shift especially since my peak power is literally at redline! thanks allen!

Im also going to guess that you're power band suffers from only running the leading coils. What is your mod list? so we can have an idea of power potential on your setup. |

See, these are things i dont like to hear. Why couldnt you get your trailing coils to work? Its very easy to wire them up and get them working. Also, the wire that goes from the trailing module to the tach is a yellow wire with a blue stripe, shouldnt be that hard, unless you've ripped out your wiring harness completely.

Ok. I think I am lost too. I have my innovative hooked up to the A/D 2. In the datalog pages it shows as voltage. I can open up another window that displays it as an A/F.
So what you are saying in datalog you can only display it as a voltage? That sort of sucks. |

I haven't tested it, but I thought you'd be able to read a 0-5v signal off of the dedicated O2 wire by going to Fuel Setup, selecting "Calibrated UEGO on O2 Sensor Input" under O2 Sensor Type, and then selecting 5v for O2a Gain Control. Does this not work? I am looking at v1.62 for the E11v2, not the E8, but I figured they'd be nearly identical.
