E6K and NOS

I want to break in to the 11's at the track and the quickest way I can think of to do this is to add NOS to my system.

Is anybody doing this now using their Haltech to control it?
If so, at what RPM's do you have it spray?

Here are my mods.

Correct me if im wrong, but you should be able to break 11's with that, might be high 11's with a crappy launch but still a 11 :)

What is your best time?
Try a pair of slicks.

What are the 60' times?
How about the trap speed?

I would think especially at some of the less maintained tracks, a pair of 26x10 slicks would take a full second of your time. With a little more work on the driving and you should be in the high elevens. With these slicks you will need to install those Rear Suspension Upright Toe Eliminators from Racing Beat at $40.

If you plan to use some nitrous I would start with a 75 shot at 4200 rpm and have it shut down 300rpm before your rev limit. I would probably back the timing 3 degrees. The Haltech can do all this. Higher octane is needed too.

Either mod may run you about the same. The only think is with the nitrous you will need to fill a 10lb bottle at $40- $50 regularly and you won’t get rid of your traction problem. With the Slicks you may be able to borrow a friends. It is much harder to borrow a nitrous kit.

Here is a thread with a guy runnining low elevens with
MT ET streets (which is a nice set of slicks):

If the slicks don't work turn up the boost with some good gas and tuning NOS not needed. Maximize your setup. Best wishes.

In order to run an 11.99 or faster you will need to get your trap speeds about 117 MPH or higher.

With a set of slicks you should be able to get 1.6 60' times. Also when you get the slicks get your self a line lock so you can do a good burnout. When you get them hot they will stick. One think you will have to worry about when launching the car is breaking an axle or tearing up the torsen diff. I would recommend the Kaaz Diff and some Chromoly axels to avoid that problem.

is it hard to have the NOS controled by the haltech?

fastrotaries Jul 9, 2002 05:42 PM

C'mon on....someone, anyone?

Marcel Burkett Jul 10, 2002 08:08 AM

No ,its pretty streight forward , consult the HALTECH manual and you should gain a very good understanding of how it operates , but remember you still need to tune for the NOS.
