E11V2? Does it work?
I am looking into the E11V2, I need a ems with alot of map points and fine control for my next project. I am looking at the following , Motec m800, hks f-con v pro, autronic sm4, haltech e11v2..
Here is my concerns with each one: Motec m800, my only concern is the price its gonna cost me around 4200 CDN.I've seen this ecu in action, it is a good unit.. Hks F-con v pro, I can get the ecu no problem, getting the power writer cable and software is another issue, hks wont even give my friends who are hks dealers in Japan a backup software disk or cable and its copy protected..I have an hks dealer locally, however I dont think they have the skills to tune a rotary of this type. Very powerful ecu, to bad its so protected , it would sell like hotcakes otherwise... Autronic SM4: Price is good, I am not fond of the closed forums, and the overly protective parent distributorship. What happens with that, is if the person you are dealing or have to deal with knows squat, you are kinda stuck..Keeping the autronic circle tight and the cards hidden is not gonna help sale, I could have one tomorrow but all this cloak and dagger support shit is scaring me and others away.. Finally the Haltech E11V2.. I have used haltech in the past, results are ok, it has good points and bad, some people I know tested one of the e11's and the results were not very good.. Looking at the hitmans site, there are still alot of bugs coming out of the E11V2, there was another thread, where someone quoted haltech as saying there were no problems with e11v2, yet the Hitmans site show there are firmware bugs still popping up and the resultant fixes as the problems appear.. Who is running one? What issues are you having? Is the timing stable? Have you tracked the timing underload through RPM? Do all the ouputs work? Are you having any ignition pickup issues? Scanning through the haltech forum, its pretty easy to find e6x threads with timing related/spark issues, not what you want on a high strung rotary.. Its half the price of the motec m800, but is it half the quality as well?.. |

Why don't you share the information you learned in Japan with this group, that you previous didn't feel deserved to benefit from your observations during the ecu dyno comparison, since you are now trying to benefit from their experience?
It's a 2-way street, or at least it should be . . . |
Well, the E11v2 is a very capable system, it has adjustable load and rpm points, making very customizable to suit your needs. It has the ability to use your own sensors, or the haltech supplied ones. Its got a ton of inputs and outputs that are very capable of handling any application.
Even though i havent worked on one yet, ive only read good thing about it. |
With the latest software and firmware version offered for the E-8/11 series I have got pretty positive results on a 13B aplication so far. I just made 578 rwhp on a E-11 equipped FD. I'm also using the HWC(haltech wideband controller) with the ecu. Next feature I'm about to use would be the on-board boost controller with boost by gear options.:)

It's a 2-way street, or at least it should be . . . I contribute alot of technical stuff, sometimes more than I should...

578 is a good number on a 13b, I am leaning towards buying one, What I am trying to do as well is only buy one ecu for my project evolution. I would like 3 and 4 rotor control available to me at a later date... |

Max,
Before you buy one why don't you give mine a go? It's new in the box and I can't see myself using it right away. If it works out good you can either buy mine or get another one if you see fit. Give me a shout. |

Give me a shout. It might be worth the risk to do so, just to even test the one you have... I am becoming so cautious in my elder years about installing aftermarket stuff into my car, I guess its years of buying shit that "kinda" works, or sometimes never lives up to its hype, I am getting so sick of buying and doing things twice i tend now to just go the "safe" way on mods.. |
