E11 2 step/aux rev limit settings

What should the settings be for the 2 step on the E11?

HOW hard is a two step on the motor. IIRC i read that it puts a lot of strain on the corner seals but exactly how much. If not abused would the stock corner seals take it for a while, maybe a season? Or would i be better off using the anti lag instead?

TIA
Allen

Think about it for a second, how does the "2 step" work? cause the anti-lag is basically a big retarding of the timing, 10-20 degrees, the engine wont rev past a certain point anyway, and combustion chamber pressures go through the roof, spooling the turbo up to new hights.

There's also the Aux. RPM Limit, which is just that, when enabled, puts the engine at a different setpoint than the normal rev limiter, doesnt make as much boost as anti-lag, and basically just shuts off and turns back on the injectors at the set RPM, making loud bang bang bangs when it hits.

If the "2 step" is either one of these functions, i say use antilag, since you have several parameters to control and make it work good, adding additional fuel is one of them.

Also, you should never stay on the feature for too long anyway, just learn to work with it, and just try to coordinate your self to put your foot down 2 or 3 seconds before the light goes green and that way you'll strain the motor less.

I know how the aux rev limit and anti lag work i just don't know how to set them up. For the aux rev limit there are two settings "hard" and "soft" I would assume for the aux rev limit you would set it to soft. But there are 4 other sub categories "linear soft cut" "hard to soft cut" "soft to hard cut" and "custom soft cut". I don't know which one to chose. For the record the aux rev limit "2 step" cuts ignition not fuel.

If i use th anti lag what should i set the % enrich and ign retard to?

Thanks for your time Claudio

I would start with the base parameters Haltech has put in there, if you feel that its way to ruch or you're fearful for the life of your motor with the timing retard value thats in there, start lower, and see how much boost you make on it, under the default settings, then try changing those 2 values as you see fit. Also, i would not spend an hour trying to figure it out, 4-5 attempts at a time is what i would try.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks, i will give it a try tomorrow.

Which MSD ignition boxes are you using?

13B-RX3 03-31-07 09:17 AM

I am using a Digital 6 for the leading and a DIS 4 for the trailing.

DIS4 for the trailing? hmmm... so whold on a minute, what channels are you using on that DIS4? and could a DIS2 be connected to the Trailing plugs?

Yes, a dis 2 could be used. I just happened to have an extra dis 4 siting around.

Do your motor and turbo a favor and used the two step on the MSD.

I don't know if either MSD has a dual rev limit. Are you saying to just launch the car at whatever the redline is and forget the "2" step. Would that cause a problem with the trailing possibly firing before the leading or am i just reading too deep;). Just whisper it, i promise i wont tell:batman:.

Thanks

Anyone?

13B-RX3 04-10-07 09:55 PM

Soooo i decided to actually read ALL the instructions on the DIS-4/Digital-6 and guess what. They both have built in 2-steps:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:. Damn Chris, stop making me ask these stupid questions!!!

But seriously, thanks. My windshield will be in this week so it shouldn't be long before i get a few passes in her.

PM me so I can tell you how too set up the DIS-4. Or else!
BTW. There's no such thing as a dumb question. Dumb answers yes!
The dumb thing is to try it without asking first.
