Diagnostic port/ direct fire wiring
 

Hello.

I'm currently in need of some advice I own a fd with a Plug and play PS1000 and using a IGN1A kit from Sakebomb Garage. I've been running Wastespark mode for a little while and decided to switch to Direct Fire.

What wire does everyone used on the diagnostic port for"L2" off the SBG connector?

I blew a coil last night and still trying to figure what I did wrong. The Haltech was powered on at Wastespark mode. Without any attempts to crank the coil got hot and popped in less then 2 minutes while I was changing the configuration from Wastespark to Directfire on the software. I'm not sure if this is what caused the problem.

On the SBG kit I clipped the purple wire and ran a fresh wire to connector 26 pin 4 which corresponds to ignition output 2 which is Leading 2.

Also on the S6 Patch harness where does the ignition 2 output go since its not used on the stock wastespark setup???? It would even better to tap into this wire....

The Haltech patch loom uses IGN2 to run the BAC valve. When converting to direct-fire, you'll lose function of the BAC valve. You can move the BAC terminal to DPO 17 or 18, if you want to keep the BAC functional.

There should be a warning in the SBG kit telling you to make the software change before connecting the coils. When you plugged everything up before making the change, the ECU was still programmed for IGN2 to be an output used for an accessory. If the output is high, which it will be in most situations with the key on and engine off, the coil is being charged. You MUST make the software change before plugging in the coils. I made a post about this a couple years ago when this happened to another customer. It should be stickied in this forum but we don't have an effect mod for this forum. And SBG should know enough to provide this information to customers, since they're apparently selling ECU specific kits.
