DBW install wiring

Going to be installing a DBW, I need 6 wires for the throttle body. The TPS sensor has 4 wires and the IAC has 2 wires both of which i am removing. Has anyone just repurposed these wires for the throttle body instead of running a sub harness?

As long as the wires are high enough gauge to support the current of the DBW motor, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Are they long enough? I'm in a similar position modifying a Rywire harness for DBW

I am also using a rywire harness and they are long enough to reach on my setup

Yeah that was my main concern, I don't need to fry a wire. Also I'm using a rywire harness so the gauge may be different from stock.

The two half bridge outputs that actually drive the motor are locked into specific pins at the ECU - so you would need to move the wires you are using over to those pin locations on the main ECU connectors. Haltech also has specific/recommended input pins for the TPS/APP inputs (I am not 100% sure why) - you would probably want to re-pin the wires you are using to match those as well if they don't match up already.

Otherwise it would work just fine, if I remember right the wires are the same size as most of the harness.

You can use the TPS wires for the TPS on the DBW assembly obviously, however the IAC is more than likely a common 12v ancillary line (depending on your harness) and a single triggered PWM. I would personally run new lines to your half bridge pins.

Not necessarily.

I asked Haltech support about this, and got a reply today.

"On the Elite Series ecus DBW APP 1 & 2 and TPS 1 & 2 HAVE to use AVI 2,3,4,5. The software will only allow you to choose those AVIs."

What this means is that the brake switch that is using AVI 2 must be reassigned to another circuit.

Probably I am going to use SPI 1. Still working out the details.
