considering e6k to sprint re
I have someone selling a sprint re locally and i have considered changing ecu's due to the lack of support with the e6k. So my main questions are 1 is the change in ecu worth it?how complicated would the swap be? my main concern is the harness. Any information would be much appreciated

Same question as you've asked

How long is a piece of string? It's a hard question to answer without knowing your skill level and what you want the ECM to do. If the E6k is doing everything you want then it wouldn't be worth it but if you are not happy with it the sprint may be a good choice for you. The sprint also wouldn't be any harder to install than the E6K was. I don't know if you can import maps from a E6K so a tune would probably be in order.

Well said.
The E6K has a reputation for being pretty reliable. The Sprint RE is a great ECU and has some distinct advantages, but, like Allen said, if you're not having issues, there might not be much of an incentive to change. You could adapt the Sprint harness to mate with your existing wiring. Personally, I would go with a complete re-wire though. Built to spec harnesses are available. Depending on the impedance of the injectors, you may be able to run all six with the Sprint. An injector box may be in order though. Given that, stepping up to the Sport 1000 and all the extras that come with it, might be a better option. |
my e6k is very unsupported here.
i am pursuing a sprint changeover. I am running a TII turbo motor will post as we research it. We r going to do new wiring. I will call haltech about the changeover. more answers? |
Some +/- u might consider and look into more details about them
+ New ECU manager is great tool, compared to E6K DOS software + ability to run true and native direct fire ignition with SprintRE - impedance limitations (or need to run resistor pack) on SprintRE - thanks to BDC's experiment, you can ditch waste spark on E6K as well I you are choosing whenever to get E6K vs SprintRE, its definately good choice to go Sprint. I you already have working E6K, keep it or get Sport1000/2000..... |
