can an e8 ve used as a temporary e11?

Hello. In the past I remember reading that the e8 is basically and e11 minus a few extra outputs. My friend just got his car shipped in from the west, and it came with an e8, and I was going to see if I could plug that in without any problems and use it to get my car tuned and such until my e11 gets back from australia. Is it just plug and play or would there be wire changing I would need to do?

Thanks

In your case, since your connecting to a 13b yes an E8 can be used.

You just need to verify that you not using injector and ignition outs 5 and 6 or any of the E11 only aux inputs (your probably not).

With regards to maps, the actual maps that would be tuned and built would be the same.

You can't blame him with all the problems you've been having! :rlaugh:

Haltech said that the main chip in the ECU blew just because it was an older unit or something. Mine was one of the older looking (they only made 500) units from like 2002 or something. naa If I had an ecu that I wasn't even going to be booting up for a year (if ever) I would let you borrow it. :) Obviously if you broke it you would have to pay for the repairs though.
