Basic Ignition Timing
I am looking for some basic ignition timing setting for a my rx7 (e6x S4 ported 8.5 compression stock ignition 3 bar map to4E 57 trim 550X2 primaries 52lbX4 secondaries)
I'm just looking for basic steps at 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 psi, I'll get to a dyno to fine tuning. |
My maps

Here are my maps. I used my ignition maps form my supercharged setup thinking they would be conservative (less heat with FMIC and turbo).
So the real issue I'm trying to solve is a miss when I come into boost quickly. If I slowly build it seems fine at 1-6 psi but when I stab the throttle it misses. My a/f are low 10-11 but that should not be low enough to miss. Again E6X |
Depending on your ignition system, plug condition and how low in the 10's you are you still could be missing.
Also it sounds like your throttle pump may be dumping in too much fuel. Looks like you have a few cells that don't make a lot of sense (3500 & 6500 RPM 11-73). Also at high boost the timing is all over the place. I would smooth it all out. Other wise it doesn't look over aggressive though you could add about 5-10 deg to your cruise areas. |

I was talking KPA. There are a bunch of lines or individual cells that don't flow with the cells around them. They need to be smoothed out. I would have just pulled one of the timing maps from the sticky map thread and adjusted it from them.
What engine, boost, and earliest boosted rpm are you seeing? Superchargers on a rotary are new to me (tuning wise). |

As the first post said S4 13bt ported with a turbo, 8-10 psi , It's a To4E 57 trim from an hks upgrade kit with a .7 A/R turbine housing so it's into boost by 3000 (I'll verify this today) |
Whoops went right over you equipment information.

Map after smooth

Here's what I am going to try today. I'll tune my throttle pumps down while I'm out.

after drive
So it's too rich, I'll tune that out next weekend. The higher timing at low loads feels like to help out. Did you see any issues with my fuel maps?
In definitely in boost at 3000, should be earlier after I lean things out. |
