AVC-R and E6K
Yes, yes, I know that they can be wired up separately... but can anyone tell me which of the wires off the J16 plug the AVCR should be tapped into for RPM signal? the idiot tuners here in Benton, AR (who shall remain nameless.. tho they know who they are) wired me up with the injector duty instead of RPM. Which is great, but I autocross, not drag race.
*shrug* Anyway... any one that can tell me whether it's the "trigger," "input A," "input B," or "home" I'd appreciate it. I'm assuming... the "trigger" wire? Thanks in advance!!! |
No, you're looking at the wrong set of wires!
Do NOT touch the ignition INPUT wires. I'm assuming this if for an FD? You need to splice into ANY of the 3 ignition OUTPUT wires. I forget which ones, but I think it's IGN1 / IGN2? -Ted |

Hook into one of the wires going out to the ignition system then, right? |
I dunno why you're looking at J7 or J16, because I don't know how your Haltech is wired into your vehicle...

Okayyyy... then which wire do i need for rpm signal to my AVC-R? the wiring guide for it says to wire into the RPM signal. So which wire should it be wired up to then?
Haltech install was done by Marcus Williams 7 years ago and he no longer is in the tuning biz. Didn't have AVC-R then so I'm working with the E6K wiring diagram and J7 and J16 are the only wire connector sets that go to igniters or the crank angle indicator from what I can tell. I'm 500 miles away from my car right now so I can't really check where the idiots at Polk wired the AVC-R, but it's set up for injector duty cycle and not RPM's :( |
I'm trying to go by connector numbers involved because I got my haltech back during the period where the wire colors didn't always match up with the diagram. So if a tuner on here can just look at the wiring diagram (the one in the manual) and tell me which one will give my AVC-R the right signal, i'd appreciate it.
