I know it can be done with my E8, but don't know if it's worth the hassle.
The "vari-cool" controller is seems so convenient and easy to tune.:101384_l:

Has anyone else tried the s-hsv with the E8?

this is what i am planning on doing. haltech says you can connect it directly to the output of the e8. then you get a fully mappable load v rpm output. just like the fjoracing setup

This is also what I plan to do with my FD when I get around to it. Only thing that concerns me is that I've been told the output is limited to 1 amp. I plan on finding a high speed solid state relay to handle the load.

How many amps would the valve use?
How are you guys gonna control the pump?

specs on the valve:
PWM Frequency 300 HZ to 15,000 HZ
Amp draw .49 AMPS (Per 2 valve manifold)
Voltage : 0 to 12 V DC

at .49A you do not need to go to a solid state relay. a solid state relay still does not cycle fast eneough, the fastest on i saw could operate at 53 Hz. Faster is better in this case. if you were really worried about things you could set up a transistor network similar to an H bridge. hell you probably could buy an H bridge that they use for robotics.

When you are using a valve you do not need to control the pump. just use a simple relay setup. i bet you could setup your system to kick the pump on as soon as you hit 0psi of boost. i would check with your pump manufacturer to see how long it will take for the pump to spin up to full pressure to make sure this is do able. i would probabyl just leave the pump on all the time.

also, you may want to install a fail safe setup. i would take a pressure swithc and put it in the line and run that to your boost controller and 2nd map toggle. when the switch closes, ie the pressure is to low to keep it open, it will jump to the low boost map and tell your boost controller to put you on the low boost setting.

i will be installing an e8 inplace of my e6x sometime this winter and i can get on with the ai install.

one thing to note: the 2-hsv is only good for 10gph. if you need more youwill need to use 2 or switch to an fjo solenoid+solenoid driver box. This ends up being cheaper in the long run. the solenoid is 150ish and the solenoid driver is 100. 2 s-hsvs will be 320 and then you need to get nozzles. 2 s-hsv will give you much mroe flexability, but it all depends on your setup and how much money you want to spend

So each valve is only drawing a 1/4 amp? A lot less than I assumed.
