Oh? Well well.

We're gonna have to see this bad boy installed with the beam pattern.

No offense to Montego but that picture he posted is terrible in regard to the output of the lighting

Yeah, hopefully I'll have some beam shot here soon. Working on a bit more TLC on the wiring, some install guides and of course, figuring out how to move this into production. Also, integration of an HID bulb for the projector housing. I'll get everything up and running with halogen then add the HIDs.

For the record, Montego's pics aren't of this kit (although I appreciate the pics).

Very cool, Matt. I bet it feels good to share that photo. Can't wait to see more and hear details about when you might be able to take orders. So stoked for this one!

None taken but please don't mistake the light bouncing off the bucket and therefore think this is an H9 problem. Below you can see how the projector sits far back, is encased in the bucket and thus causes reflections. I should note that while driving it causes zero issues. Much brighter than stock and I blind no one.

My main point was to show that the lights are indeed bright. In retrospect, I should had noted that the beam pattern is skewed due to the buckets but I simply had forgotten how picky the Rx-7 club is even when it comes to an output that is superior from stock. The truth is Hella H9's provide excellent lighting, they are bright but not too bright, and they don't disperse light all over the place. I for one was very happy that Matt chose that route.

Its always a weird feeling. On one hand - I'm so glad/proud to get it to this point... and as a fan personally, I always like seeing product development. But on the other hand, it raises excitement/expectations, and I never want to disappoint.

Sooooooo... is it coming along? Yes. Are we making progress? Yes. Can you buy it today or am I yet taking pre orders? No... but we're getting there.

I am interested as well. I hope these kits come to market soon and don't die out. Pricing should be interesting considering the entire bucket was reproduced. Tons of R&D involved here!

Let's just say - it's the closest to production it has ever been.

Sit tight. Thanks for your support.

Excellent job Matt. Take your time - we've all been waiting this long, I don't think waiting another couple months is going to kill anyone. Very happy to see how far this has come recently.

Thank bud. I appreciate it.

I know this thread has been going for a LONG time (and even longer than the start date says) but I've been at it for about a year now and we're getting really close.

Here's a couple more shots from some test fitting today.

Car is still in pieces - so it's tough to show off. But hopefully you get the idea and can see just how stock the install really is.

The buckets are SOLID. The install is straight forward. I'm not one to get excited - but I'm really happy with how this is shaking out.

Those look really nice.
I've been lurking about... for pretty much the last 17 years... but also in this thread in particular.
When you do get to market, I'm guaranteed. Keep up the good work!

Looking good Matt. That is so much nicer than my one-off/prototype of this.

Couple of thoughts for you. On the wiring, make sure you have the wiring set to keep the low beams on when you activate the high beams. In this way, you won't cycle the HID low beams on and off (assuming HIDs will be an option) and you will extend their life as well as save on the time it takes for HIDs to come on. Had this issue which is why I bring it up to you. So, I think you need to add in a relay for this. Second, make sure your adjustment screws on each light give you the range of motion needed. On my high beam 90mm units, what came with the Hella kit works fine but I just redid my 50mm low beams as the range of the three pivot adjustment screws wasn't quite right. I added four screws for each light that are all adjustable from the front so I now have complete control. The stock kit for the 50mm unit comes with three adjustment screws, with only one (the top) adjustable from the front, making them difficult to adjust.

Finally, as an aside, I already had the Hella HIDs on the 50mm units but I upgraded the bulbs in the them to D2S Osram Xenarc 66240 CBI (5500K) units from the retrofit source. The stock Hella units were too yellow (even thought they were supposedly 4200K) compared to all the other LED bulbs I run and the Osrams now blend in with the rest of the bulbs - not 5500K but pure white. Was leery of doing this but retrofit was right on how the color would turn out. Finally, I added in Morimoto HID bulbs and ballasts to the high beams (from the retrofit source) and these have dramatically increased the light output of the high beams. The downside of doing this is the slight delay in the HID lights activating but beautiful light once on fully. I thought about LED bulbs but the retrofit source indicated there was nothing (one year ago) that would increase the light output over the Hella halogen units. This may have changed over the past year.

Keep up the outstanding work!
