Hi Guys

Looking for Expressions of Interest to purchase Mazdaspeed R Spec Style Bonnets/hoods.

I have decided to provide RX7 forum members and other FD owners with Mazdaspeed R-Spec Style FRP Bonnets / Hoods .

These Bonnets / Hoods have full ADR (Australian Design Rules) approval.

Whilst this is not valid in the US it does demonstrate the high calibre of the product. The manufacturer is one of the few who is eligible to obtain this approval rating in Australia. Most others have not been able to get this status.

The cost of the Fiberglass Bonnets is $1,250 + Postage (which varies from state to state). These bonnets / hoods are coming from Australia. Ideally, if there is enough interest I would ship to a central location from where US distribution could be organized to save costs.

Upon ordering, a non-refundable deposit of $500 will be required in order to secure a Bonnet / Hood

A lighter Racing version of this Bonnet / Hood can also be made upon request.

They can also be done with or without the side vents, just let me know when you order.

Any further questions, PM me.

Click on pics to enlarge them

Cheers
Michael

Ok I'll bite. Maybe I don't know something so maybe I'll learn something. Why does a replica fiberglass hood cost $1250+shipping? You know equivalent hoods of that type cost in the $3-400 range, right? Like I said, maybe there's something I don't know about it.

Show me were i can get hoods for $ 300- 400 maybe i should buy some and sell them over here .

The original of this Hood in Aluminium is worth $6000 in Japan and are as rare as to find .So a Fibreglass copy of the original that i am offering i believe is a fair price .

PS :Dont get me wrong i appreciate that you at least responded to my thread and pointed this out to me ,if your are correct then i have totally out priced the Hoods for your part of the world .

ryan1 10-13-10 10:17 PM

I think the high cost is only part of the problem. I have had 3 copied hoods from different places and they all had bad fitment. It is hard to pay big money for something that I might have to take to a body shop and spend a bunch more on to make fit right.

Guess i will have to put up the pics of the hoods when they are finished on my car ...Being a ........... 2002 Spirit R Type A i will not compromise on fitment ,quality .

Pics up as soon as they are ready .

I guess that's possible. But all I'm saying is the dry carbon C-West original hood I had back in the day on my WRX was less than $1250+shipping from Japan. The scoop was another $650 but that's a whole other story. lol. Point being like Ryan1 said, replica hoods don't have the best rep on fitment. I'm sure you make a nice quality product, but most people are wary of replicas. There's a whole slew of them on eBay for that price, ($300-400) and even after paying bodywork to make it fit perfectly, and even glassing in custom scoops if you wanted to, they would still be cheaper.

You've priced yourself at or above a bunch of easy to get name brand or high end replica hoods here in the U.S. (and these are retail website prices that nobody smart pays)

JUN- $1246
INGS- $1349
C-West - $1179, $1026, & $836 frp
Chargespeed- $1319 carbon, $680 frp
RE-Amemiya- $1219 frp
Seibon- Has 5 different hoods $480-800
Shine Auto- FEED replica frp $500

Granted, they aren't that specific Mazdaspeed hood, but that really only matters for the 3-4 people that want that hood and [b]only[/i] that hood. :) I'm not trying to crap on your thread or anything, but market is market.

Boo for not being able to edit my bad html skills. lol

Sarunsajn Thanks for your input , guess the cheap Mexican labour costs are hard to compete with , man those are cheap Hoods .

Guess i should not be suprised the cost of cars here are usually 3 times that of cars in the US .

Example i bought a set of ignition coils for my late RX8 from Online mazda parts in US $160 .+40 delivered to my door step here in Australia in 5 working days

Australian Mazda dealers wanted $600 and a 4 day wait lol :(

Sarusanj 10-14-10 09:36 PM

Well, with the exception of Shine and Seibon, all the rest are from Japan.

You guys get all the better cars though! A newer than 95 RX7, Skylines, all the Silvias and all with the good engine, and the old Evos? :D

Honestly, it's Fit, fit, fit, fit. (And finish)

I have an $900 Seibon hood, I'd have gladly paid more for it to fit better—and it fits better than 90% of the aftemarket stuff I've seen. I'd even pay for the outrageously priced RE-Amemiya dry carbon hood if it was guaranteed OEM fitment and finish.

I see carbon stuff on other cars all the time that fits like factory. RX7 stuff is mostly embarrassing in that regard.

This is a zombie thread from 11 years ago, but I still agree. I would love to be able to buy a vented good with OEM fitment that uses the stock latch.
