Hey guys!

If you've been following us on IG and Facebook you've probably seen some sneak peeks on this. Well, it's time for us to open up the door for pre-orders and wanted to post it here first.

We are offering a replacement windshield cowl for the FD3S Mazda RX-7... in carbon fiber of course! :cool:

We will be stocking Plain (1x1), Twill (2x2), Forged or Honeycomb weave - and we even have some funky special order weaves available if that's what you're after.

As for configurations, we have LHD and RHD available along with an UNCUT version for those of you that have deleted your wipers and want a sleek look. All configurations include weatherstripping for an OEM fit and finish.

ETA is about 6-8 weeks off, but that should be a very attainable estimate.

As for exhausts, those are currently cranking away. I have a two piece version being welded up along with a dual dolphin tip being made. :icon_tup:

Another company has some larger items similar to this but said they wouldn't be able to ship to me due to sizing restrictions as well as non-deliverability of FedEx to my FPO address. To ship freight would cost an amount that I could not justify as well as a headache dealing with whatever port of entry once it arrives.
I have both an FPO and "regular" address in Japan.

We are in production and scheduled to have our first (small) batch this week, with more to follow in the next few weeks. There's still time to get your order in and ensure you get the weave you want. :icon_tup:

So sorry I neglected this thread! Social media is taking over it seems. :blush:

I have TWO large batches en route to me right now. One shipped July 10th and I'm checking the tracking everyday. The other went out late last week.

These first two batches are overdue for sure - BUT should cover ALL the twill orders and a few of the others.

Once everything arrives - we should be able to turn them around in a day or so. :icon_tup:

That's me exhaling after shipping out our first big batch of cowls! :beer:

So here's the break down... if you ordered in April / May you SHOULD have a tracking number, with the exception of RHD Twill weave and 1x1 weave (of course, the one I need for my car :facepalm3:).

All the Forged, Honeycomb and the vast majority of Twill have also shipped. The next big batch is currently being laid and that will include the rest of the Twill and 1x1.

We currently have TWO Forged/LHD cowls in stock and will try to build up inventory as we fill pre-orders.

For everyone's patience we are including a few extra bonuses in addition to the titanium hardware. I know it's been a few weeks more than originally anticipated and your patience doesn't go unappreciated. :worship:


On a side note, we have a couple BIG carbon fiber projects in the development phase right now, so get excited for those. But in the meantime - we will continue to push through these cowls.

I got my shipping notification! Woo hoo!

Can't wait to get mine, I will post up my impressions when I get it!

Absolutely! That would be the 'UNCUT' option.

What it means is - we don't cut the cowl for the wiper arms. I should probably clarify that on the website. :blush:

Looks like I did miss these last two PMs - but we responded to the first nine! :)

We have more cowls being laid daily. Right now, we are processing all the 1x1s and the remaining Twills. I am hoping to have them in hand in the next couple weeks and turn them around.

So sorry we didn't get your order out on the initial batch - we just went straight down the line. I will be sure to keep you posted as to when the next batch are ready for shipping. :icon_tup:

We have five additional molds created and are laying carbon fiber as we speak (type).

Hoping to have them all laid this week then trim / clear coat.

"All orders include a piece of weather strip..." Are you including the small side strips that go on the edge the cowl by the a-pillar? I haven't seen that on any pictures. Also, why do you not have any holes/grille in yours. I thought the whole idea is to get rid of the water through the factory drain channels. Where does water go with your cowl? If it just runs down the firewall, and into the engine bay, I wouldn't find this to be a good idea. Rain is one thing, but just car washing is another. Not dumping on your product here, just vocalizing my concerns. Otherwise, looks slick, and well-made, like your other stuff!

As you can see, we have our FIVE molds cranking right now. Every day we're able to get all five laid up and vacuumed, from there it's trim, clear, wet sand and polish.

At this rate we're making good progress - but it's tedious to say the least. I know it's starting to sound like a broken record - but another few weeks and we'll really break through and have some tracking numbers for everyone. :bowdown:

Do us key-waiting guys get a goodie too? I paid in September for mine. :dunno:

There is a shipment en route that should cover every single non-Twill (2x2) cowls; meaning 1x1, Honeycomb and Forged.

There are more Twill (2x2) cowls currently being laid and those I'm being told are another month out. :icon_tup:

Unfortunately, still no inventory is expected as we are only focused on back orders.

I've inquired several times and always receive the COVID response, a few more weeks. I ordered mine in July. I have also purchased a few items in the past without much delay.
How about a deadline which will come to fruition?

Completely fair question and I hate making people wait or giving inaccurate ETAs. We just received a batch of cowls this week that we are turning around and shipping everyday.

THOSE cowls satisfy every customer that DIDN’T order twill. Every Honeycomb, Forged and Plain/1x1 showed up and are going out.

If you didn’t order one of those weaves - it will be another month or so. I’m being told end of January - but I also relay what I’m told by the manufacturer - which admittedly isn’t always 100% accurate.

At the end of the day, the response to this was MUCH larger than expected. It required way more molds than we thought (a few which were damaged and had to be remade along the way) and just took longer to produce at every step (laying, finishing, clear coating).

I’m finally starting to breath a sigh of relief and seeing some light at the end of the tunnel - but this HAS dragged out MUCH longer than expected, and honestly, which I’m comfortable with. I really hate the feeling of owing people anything - so if anyone wants a refund - that’s 100% ok - no questions asked.

The reason for the pre-order in general is to make sure we get the right weaves / config (LHD, RHD, Uncut) produced. If there is a better way to do this - I’m open to it. But the problem on the ‘interest list’ vs actually having orders in hand is that ‘interest’ is likely to change and by our experience, theres about a 1/3 conversion rate of ‘interest’ to sale. Which is fine for something universal - but with the specific options we have - risking having 30 LHD / 20 RHD when we actually need 45 LHD / 5 RHD puts us in the same situation of not delivering what people want.

That said, I can only pass along info I have. At this moment, we’ve shipped 70% of orders and by the end of the week that will include 100% of honeycomb, forged and plain weave. BUT there’s still a lot of twill we are waiting on with an ETA of end of January.

I’m actually interested once you start getting caught up on your inventory. I’m very pleased with the effort and the products you guys have produced this year and I am very understanding of the circumstances surrounding COVID and trying to ship out orders in a timely manner. I also understand the other side of it; guys paying money and wanting their products. Both sides have to communicate and be willing to compromise and you’ve done just that by offering refunds on people dissatisfied with the wait.
