Extreme quality full 3.5” SS exhaust, stock TT downpipe compatible!
Now that the virus has completely stopped my full time job, no time like the present to see if anyone would be interested in an extremely high quality 3.5" exhaust system? I needed a few high quality and extremely durable exhausts for my FD’s so I worked with a local fabricator using only the best parts available.
Ultimate “All Business” exhaust goals: -All Stainless Steel (pipe, flanges, clamps, mufflers, everything) -Largest possible, yet high flowing mufflers to reduce noise and drone with the large 3.5” piping -Proper high temperature scrubble packing. THIS IS KEY, other mufflers internal material can degrade over time due to the rotary’s high EGT’s, common lack of cats, and will start to drone over time. -Bolt to factory TT downpipe location optional via reducer. Perfect for owners who will chop that off later when moving to a 3.5” downpipe from a single turbo etc… -Modular. Some might ask why the mufflers are not welded to the piping? Simple, the piping is meant to be sent to your favorite ceramic coater to further improve performance and heat management. -Light weight. Exact weights coming once I remove it back off the car. Can make these with options to fit everyone's needs: -Front 3.5” > 3” reducer and flange with gasket to bolt to factory TT downpipe. -Front 3.5” vBand at factory downpipe location. (I'm working on a 3.5" twins downpipe as well.) -Dolphin style or straight tip tail pipe. If you do not like either, for example the curve of the dolphin or the look of the 304ss straight tip, I could also ship without a tip. You could then use a burnt look Ti tip etc... Prototype pictures: Mid pipe has a single stage repack-able muffler with high temperature scrubble packing. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...f7367a065b.jpg Rear section has a TWO stage repack-able muffler with high temperature scrubble packing. (Excuse the hanging valance trim, been mounting different options) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...c4ebf5650f.jpg Proper heavy duty stainless clamps that will not leak, break, or move! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...5283682aba.jpg More pictures will be posted below along with outside and in car footage. I'm happy to say the muffler system helps get rid of any raspy sounds and provides a nice deep tone. Please post if interested, we might be able to get a group buy going! These won't be available one by one, the fabricator is much too busy and would need to make a decent amount of them. Most likely 10+ systems to make it all viable. |
Just how light are the mufflers?
Here is the single stage muffler in the mid pipe https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...e676c878a9.jpg Rear section two stage: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...baf6a5b41b.jpg And a very heavy duty Racing Beat 3" flange for comparison https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...fd31bddd14.jpg Weight of the whole system coming soon. |
What kind of pricing? Would need to be cheaper than the garage alpha titanium coming for me to consider it.

Exact weight, decibel readings, and video's coming soon. |
Decibel readings via the Sound Meter App on a pixel 3a.
10 Feet away behind the car, 850 rpm idle. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...75b97ee093.png Right at the muffler exit, 850rpm idle. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...214e92b307.png Inside the car, drivers seat, 850rpm idle. This car has all the sound deadening removed, however full interior in place. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...7b285c1903.png This one shows two full rpm rev's from 10 feet and 20 feet directly behind the car. The initial rev is at 10 feet, the rev after the 15 second mark is from 20 feet. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...9f52fa6b4c.png |

Total weight: 26.46lb, say 27lb with the bolts/gasket! We have looked into a titanium version of this setup however do not believe the drastic increase in cost would out weigh the small loss of weight, especially with the weight at the lowest point of the car.
First picture is all of the piping, mid section muffler, and clamps. Second picture is just the rear muffler + clamp. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...8ce5ec44b3.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...001fe26eb8.jpg Top exhaust is prototype 1 that's a number of years old with 2k miles. We completely redesigned the system to: -Accommodate the additional mid section muffler -Clear all the factory under car braces -Use stainless slip on clamps instead of v-bands https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...3a1ebde892.jpg |
Great video on the science and math behind an exhaust system. Covers everything from the manifold to post turbine and shows the importance of flow.

June bump, still working to make this a possibility for ~10 systems. Let me know if your interested.

July bump. Post here or send a PM with any interest to see if we can get a group buy going.

Straight tip prototype in the works, will upload pictures as soon as its done being welded.
|
Clearance around the diff. Pictures make it look hanging lower then it really is. It's basically even with the lowest point of the rear subframes.

Straight tip 3.5" version completed, will post pictures mounted soon!
|
Here are some pictures of the straight tipped version. Also some pictures of the front section where it mounts to the stock downpipe location via a 3.5" > 3" reducer and heavy duty Racing Beat flange. This makes it simple to modify if you ever move to a single turbo with a 3.5" downpipe, simple cut off the stock style flange & reducer. Muffler tip is not polished in these pictures, straight from being welded!
Just a reminder these mufflers are re-packable with high temp scrubble. If you are not running a cat on your FD and find yourself shooting flames, more likely then not you are eating away at all your mufflers packing. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...f6d61a6edb.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...b60b2dd4e9.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...fa48671ad9.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...5de6d3e739.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...7256fb58c6.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...2af92c41a4.jpg |
Next step is to see how this can work with a LSx swapped FD.
|
More pics to show approximate clearance around the diff. For the v8 swaps, the rear section as seen in the photo below would give ~16" of room for a y-pipe (front trans rear seal to rear section of 3.5" exhaust).
