Bubble Tech LHD Passenger Footrest

6 Attachment(s)
So some may know I've been working on our version of a LHD passenger footrest for quite some time... After being hassled by a few people (mainly my mother :lol:) I finally got around to making the last adjustments and figuring out the manufacturing process (All hand made in house).

Inspired by the Passenger Footrest only offered in the Spirit R edition (RHD), we designed and developed our own style footrest. In our version we have designed it to fit LHD cars and features dimple dies. We inherited the dimple die technique that is often used in race cars. Many race cars cut circles out of sheet metal to reduce the weight but by utilizing the dimple die, the hole is extruded in a 3rd dimension increasing its strength. We used this to increase the strength of our footrest and....... for styling points:ylsuper:

Feats/specs
Aluminum footrest
dimple die construction
Finish- Powder coated Gloss Black or "Chrome"

Price $185

(Yes we've done our R&D, just a few prototypes )

Last prototype before last tweaks/modifications (dont mind the mars, and imperfections, this was done quickly for mock up purposes)

"Final" part made from the final manufacturing process (Jigs/etc) Left side is before sandblasting, right side is after. This is showing how the markings (from the press and brake) are no longer visible live the previous prototype. Also left the left side glossy so you can see the detail better.

I'll have some pics of the foot rest in the car in the next day or two. We've started manufacturing the footrest and should have 10-15 ready for powder coating by the end of the week!

looks good. Waiting to see how it looks in chrome

AzEKnightz 05-22-13 12:44 AM

my question is how strong are the tabs? Will it bent?

For example, if someone has long legs, and during hard braking the passenger might have some weight on these footrest, how will it hold up?

The price and look definitely look good.

They are fairly strong. I put one in the car today and was stomping on it test it out and didnt seem like it was effected at all. In most cases, a person wouldnt be "stomping" on it, it would be more of a gradual pressure. Ill try to figure out some absurd way to demonstrate the strength of it lol:icon_tup:

and production has begun! tomorrow will be a fun day cutting a bajillion holes........:(

Benny, could you do an anodized black finish versus the glossy powder coating? I like both but think the anodized black would be awesome.

muibubbles 05-23-13 12:05 PM

David, IMO Anodizing isnt the proper finish for a footrest. Anodizing isnt as scratch resistant and will show flaws and scratches more easily as it is just "tinting" the metal color. (think fittings and how easily they scratch) While powder coating is coating the whole footrest. Powder coating is known for its durable finish. We can offer them in a raw finish (sandblasted) if people would like to finish them their own way..

We are looking at Powder coated Gloss black and Chrome finish options. If anyone has any other color suggestions we are all ears!

+1 on powder coating > anodizing, when in an abrasive environment.

Much more durable.

Looks killer Benny!

So we're in the process of moving so we are having a sale on most products that we have in stock to help ease the move! Our Footrests are on sale for $150 for a limited time so pick em up while you still can!

David Hayes 07-15-13 07:54 AM

Got mine a few weeks ago and very impressed. Quality is top notch and what sets this one apart from others is the pressed dimple design. Gives the piece the strength it needs IMO.

Have to wait to install it as the car is at Kilo Racing but looking forward to it.

Bubble Tech 07-16-13 12:06 PM

Thanks for the Kind words and support David!

Bubble Tech 07-20-13 09:40 PM

We got a few left! Order them while you still can at the sale price!

PS: Are there any owners interested in a RHD version? We have had a few request but in order to get that going we'd need a few committed buyers!

Flyvemyren 07-21-13 08:56 AM

Just write me on a RHD footrest ;)

Bubble Tech 10-28-13 08:08 PM

Bump! We put our sale price on sale! they're now $125 and we have less than 10 left! We are discontinuing these so get them while you still can!
