I have a couple questions. If the bulb burns out is it available to purchase or would we have to contact you for another set? If they are available how much would be just for the bulbs after?

Sorry, but no way Jose. I have more hours into these 3D models than I care to admit (I am now on the 7th revision). If I fail to bring these to market at a good price, then I will consider passing to project to someone who can.

You mean you won't give up your IP for free?!?!

There are a few people on this forum/thread that could help you bring it to market if you need a partner. They must have reached out to you already, I hope.

Also, interested.

It's going to happen. I just need time. Last night I finished printing some higher resolution models that have been redesigned to be "mold friendly". I still haven't ruled out selling printed versions, but given the ~24 hours of print time per set, I am not sure I want to put that much wear and tear on my printer. So the current path I am pursuing is making silicone molds from a set of 3D printed parts, and casting them from rigid urethane. This should also allow better surface finish and they will be pigmented black. They say the silicone molds are good for 25-50 parts. Next step is ordering all of the mold making materials, and a better vacuum chamber for degassing the resins.

Its not a bulb, but a chip. The chip is screwed in place and has two wires soldered to it. It is not designed to be replaceable, though I am sure it could be done if you were able to get an equivalent chip.

If I can become a dealer for Morimoto (TRS) then I would be able to offer warranty on the projector units. If not, then the best path to market might be one where I sell just the modified headlight housing and all other screws, gaskets, wiring etc. and then the end user purchases the projector assemblies from an Authorized Morimoto dealer. I got mine on sale from Lightwerkz for a little over $300. It really wouldn't be that difficult to assemble yourself.

Here is what 112 hours of 3D printing looks like.

The hole on the side is for ventilation for the chip, or just for show?

I’ve always really wanted headlights that out out more than a triple A powered flashlight but I’ve also really never wanted to spend 1200$ on some. So if you find a way to get these at a reasonable cost I’m a buyer

The arch shaped cutouts are for ventilation yes. I wanted to promote airflow between the main housing and the projector housing. It was the coolest looking and most mold/print friendly way I could think to do it.

Logo's have been removed. It will be easier to mold without them anyway!

Cool project. Nice work on persevering and seeing this through. I’d guess these will provide better lighting than projector halogens, but does Morimoto/The retrofit source provide any light projection output diagrams? Is so you could show the improvement over stock.

I think looking at output shots on Lightwerkz' facebook page (a retrofit shop) at least give you the indication of how much better they are. While not as wide as the D2S Mini 5.0, its pretty good.

Small update:

I have all of the mold making materials, and the 3D printed models have been sanded and primed. A little more sanding, another coat of primer and I will be ready to take a shot at making the molds.
