7075-T6 Billet Aluminum Front Lower Control Arms - Serviceable Ball Joints
Guaging interest in aftermarket 7075-T6 billet aluminum front lower control arms.
These would be non-adjustable but would have serviceable bushings and ball joints. Direct bolt-in with stock fitment. Please post if you would be interested. Thanks -Tres |
What will cost be?

If you're going to put in a serviceable ball joint, a roll center correction would be a worthwhile option.

I'm interested

subs, from the thread on norotors i am

You must have been reading my whining posts about there being no reasonably priced options for this. I'm definitely in, IF you can make these for around the same price, or cheaper, as the OEMs.
|
These will be more expensive than OEM due to the complex design and WILL BE adjustable after popular demand. Here's a set of Supra (JZA80) upper control arms to show the quality the FD3S lowers will have. FD3S uppers may also be considered.

I don't see any pic, or it isn't loading. Am I missing something?
Any which way, and not to pee in you Cheerios, but Moonface has their set with longer ball joint studs to correct roll center, and they have pressed-in new joints. All for about 1200 for the set of lowers. If they can press them in, I can press them out and replace. As far as "adjustable" goes, I never liked the concept of rod ends for an adjustable suspension application. Usually, manufacturers use too small of a diameter threaded section for my confidence. Of course, I don't see any pics of your setup, so I'm assuming that's how you mean "adjustable." |

If the fanatical quality is the same as the ones you've pictured, the aluminum alone will run about $500! Those look like they're more for show cars. I'd really like an idea of what they'll run, even if it's ball park. They look awesome.
|
Pricing will be in the $1300 - $1500 range.
|
Yikes! Is that an estimated price for the set, or each?
Would you be willing to make a more practical (and less bling-y) set? I just need the basics, and they don't need to look great in my application. I am really just after OEM quality arms that I can replace or service the ball joints in. But, I guess that isn't your goal here. Any which way, it's something to consider. These cars are just getting older, and, sooner or later, this will definitely turn into a real issue. Decently-priced alternatives seem to be few and far between. |
The price will be for a set of two.
|
There doesn't seem to be much interest except for me, so I'll pose my previous scenario for your consideration. I'm not looking for arms as fancy and detailed as you have posted, so if that is all you are offering I'm out. I'll put it as simply as possible: If you can make your arms just like the Moonface arms on rhdjapan.com, but with serviceable and replaceable ball joints (with roll center correction ball joint studs), AND offer them for the same price (under would be preferable) as rhdjapan.com's Moonface arms, then you have a deal.

It's a shame this died. I went and ordered the Moonface Super Lap LCAs.

how low from stock can you lower your car with those before your roll center gets affected? and do you also have to get something for the opposite end for rollcenter correction?
thanks |
not to hijack the thread but i recently contacted circuit sport and megan about making front control arms. I even told them i would send them a set of control arms to make a jig from. they told me they are looking into to. idk if that means there making it or just getting me to stop talking to them. I'm sure if enough of them contacted them they would do it.

That's cool, but too bad they're for the rear. I believe J-Auto has some same rear LCAs of different brand they are offering. Unless you're running your car all stanced-out, that much LCA camber adjustment is useless.
