Ingenious Electrical & Electronic Development for FB, FC & FDs

My dream in life is to work for myself, be my own boss and amaze people time and time again with my ingenuity and adaptability. Due to the economy and several factors beyond anyone's control, I need your help to start my own business to have a brighter future. My area of expertise is in designing modifications and electronic circuits from scratch and adapting parts from completely different sources together to achieve desired goals in the most unique, ingenious ways imaginable. Whenever I get an idea, even if I'm asleep, I bring up MSPaint and draw out a schematic.

As most of you might know, I've come up with some of the most ingenious ideas ever implemented in a FC, such as the Anti-Overboost Defender System, Universal standalone Anti-Knock System, 2-Stage Fan Control System with A/C & Manual Overrides, Rewired Vert Headrest Speaker switches and so on. And then there's my Universal Signal Generator, which puts out absolutely ANY kind of signal you could conceivably need in a car. It's the perfect tool for developing new hardware.

I have been developing ideas nonstop and want to build and offer my creations for sale. In the past 48 hours, I designed and schematic'ed out a plug & play universal one-touch power window & sunroof upgrade along with a Two-Turn-and-Hold power lock system that makes the windows (and sunroof if desired) open like on a 350Z (turn key twice to unlock, then hold to roll down windows, turn&hold other way to roll up). Pretty sweet eh? Especially in a RX7. Now imagine being able to do it from your alarm remote. Got that covered too, along with a remote starter and all the hardware is OEM grade too.

I've got brilliant ideas that come to me at every turn, but I need some help making them a reality. Here's a few of them, most of which I drew out in MSpaint at 2am:
Bolt-on Multi-Stage Electric Fan Control System
Ignition Signal Divider for stock 86-91 RX7s to use individual ignition coils
Aftermarket Coil (D585s) Conversion kits for 84-02 RX7s, adaptable to any car.
Aftermarket gauge retrofitting to OEM sensors
Aftermarket sensor retrofitting to OEM gauges

Like any new business I need all sorts of things, from funding to advertising to exposure. If you'd like to help, please PM me. Thanks.

Who would like to see a plug & play Power Window/Lock upgrade made for the FC? I've designed one from scratch which includes one-touch up AND down using the interior switches, as well as the doors' lock cylinders (like on a 350Z) and can be done remotely via the alarm of your choice.

While it will be plug & play on a FC, the system will be universal and adaptable to SA/FBs easily, as well as any other vintage car.

Thatd be pretty cool actually aye haha

RotaryBobby 09-21-14 11:06 PM

i would love to see any and everything you have cooked up for the fc. tell me more about the aftermarket gauges with oem sensors and the window and lock upgrades for FC.

Akagis_white_comet 09-22-14 06:07 AM

The power window/lock upgrade will operate exactly like on a 350z. Turn the key in the driver's door to unlock and hold for ~2 seconds, the windows (and sunroof, if desired) roll down. Turn & hold to lock, the windows roll up. This includes one-touch in BOTH directions, plus remote functionality via an alarm transmitter.

As for new gauges, it always bothered me that the FC never had an option for digital gauges, despite its competitors and even the HB Cosmo doing so. Of course, we all know why (reliability), but it gave me an idea, then another and another.

All digital gauges with bargraphs for the 'needles', plus numerical displays for EXACT measurements on every gauge.
A dedicated AFR gauge in the cluster, same with a PROPER BOOST GAUGE
Temperature gauge can read from either Rear Iron OR Water Pump housing

Best of all, each upgraded cluster can be made to utilize either stock or aftermarket sensors. I have the calibration charts for every stock sender/gauge, as well as quite a few aftermarket ones such as the GM 3-bar Map Sensor.
And yes, it'll fit the FC's style properly too.

Price?
Most interested as I have been researching a modest one-touch mod that I'll be installing sometime soon. Would much rather go with plug and play bleeding edge than re-inventing another wheel.

You've got some excellent ideas, like you I've really wanted to get into this kind of business, especially with a focus on rx-7's and possibly other Mazda's! We need more business support, many other brands have far more resources than our community, and it's a shame; these cars are incredible and have such potential!

Akagis_white_comet 09-26-14 02:37 PM

I'm not going to limit what I develop to only RX7s, but it will be the primary focus and testbed. If I develop something, such as the power window/lock upgrade, it will be adaptable to any vintage car, such as a Z31, MA70 or even a classic mustang with the directions in a common language (this wire goes to motor's "Ground on Down" terminal)

But yes, RX7s will get first priority

I'm aiming for a final product price of under $100 for a two-door kit, which is comparable to the offerings from SPAL/Autoloc/DEI, but mine has key & alarm-based functionality right out of the box.

As for beta testing, it's still up in the air for the time being

RotaryBobby 10-03-14 09:39 AM

Id love to beta test your cocepts once it comes to that stage :)

I'll keep you in mind for the first public beta. All the Alpha testing will be done in my car. Especially the new overhead console :)

JSmall 10-05-14 05:31 PM

Haha well who wouldn't want to test things! :egrin: You have got some pretty great ideas aye. I quite like the door lock/window bits. Although I have an 84 FB so not to worried about a few of the more turbo based bits aye haha

erick31876 10-05-14 06:26 PM

You've got some great ideas and I wouldn't mind testing them

rotorhead_izzy 10-14-14 02:35 PM

Great ideas, I'd be interested in the window switch/door lock. Would you be using the oem window switches?

Absolutely! It's always been my philosophy to NOT reinvent the wheel if an existing part does the job just fine. I've looked at several different options and none of them have the fit/finish that the stock ones do.

Phearthe-Rx7 10-23-14 10:16 AM

I don't know if there are actual improvements in the internals or not, but there is a thread near the top of the archives about using MVP switches that are a basically a perfect fit to replace the stock switches

Akagis_white_comet 12-10-14 01:07 PM

Click Click...Solved!

Speaking of Fit & Finish, I just finished a GIANT upgrade for my FC. It replaces the stock fuse box and relays, while adding a boatload more circuits for anything you can imagine that would need a fuse or relay, all in a tidy, clean package.

Before the upgrade:

After the upgrade:

A close-up:

And what's inside the box:
https://www.rx7club.com/members/akag...unds-59782.jpg

Even with a Haltech PS2K, a 20B-REW, a Wideband and ALL of the stock fuses & Relays moved into the new box, it still has 3 relay sockets open and half of the fuse sockets are still empty. It's also got a dedicated 120A fuse for the alternator too. No more risking overcharging with a Taurus Alt.

While it does require a small notch in the core support, battery relocation, and re-mounting of the stock Leading coil (which I will provide a simple, elegant solution for), It clears FMIC/VMIC plumbing with ease and puts anything electrical in a single location. And to top it off...a dedicated Ignition-switched 12v+ stud from its own relay and a permanent repair for CLICK CLICK START! My 20B fires up the first time, every time now.

And yes, it'll clear a stock hood too

Looks good

Akagis_white_comet 12-12-14 05:34 AM

Thank you, I put a lot of effort into each product I'll be offering. and technically, this electrical upgrade was the main part needed to tie everything together. I wanted to offer something that can put all of the stock fuses and relays in a single box, while having enough extra slots for anything you can think of such as HIDs, the aforementioned Power Window/Lock stuff, an intercooler sprayer, etc. Basically, anything that needs fused power can go in here, and I'll be making a proper vinyl decal for the inside of the lid to label everything in OEM colors. The only difference is that it'll have the stock circuit names on it from the FSM too.

Great idea. I'll be honest tho, the fuse panel looks a bit bulky, may also want to offer a hydrodip option. If end up doing this wwith my 7's I'd go that route. I love the idea and execution of this fuse\relay box.

That fuse box is sick. Now for a covert place to mount it.......

Well, it could always be mounted in the storage bins if you'd like ;) I just prefer it be under the hood to keep the retrofit wiring as short & tidy as possible for a fit & finish as close to OEM as possible. Anyway, the site is almost finished and ready to go, just needs some cleanup here & there with paypal buttons.

My website is done now, feel free to check it out. Link is in my profile. Please excuse the funky header text, the server is acting up...

Have you created a simple solution to converting fc coil setup to direct fire LS coils? Could really use the coils and a bracket right about now. Thank you
