Im interested. I need to see how much money I have after my swap..

monkey1911 09-07-11 06:11 AM

Will these retrofits work in cars other then FCs? My buddy has a AE86 and was drooling over these when I showed him the other day.

If the headlights are h6054 or 7x6 they should work depending on depth.

monkey1911 09-07-11 06:44 AM

The AE86 takes H6054, how far does your retrofit extend past the normal H4 housing?

turboIIrotary 09-07-11 03:59 PM

I don't have any made right now to measure but i have a picture of the backs.

Any pictures of this installed?

I was wondering how far the housing protrude out of the housing. Sakebombs kit requires cutting and still protrudes more than stock. Does yours protrude as well? If so about how much more than stock?

The headlight has a greater depth but it does not affect mounting so no cutting or spacers are involed and do not protrude out of the pop up assembly.

Cool thank you very much!

duc lover 09-21-11 07:42 PM

That's actually a pic of my car.
The kit fits great, however the modification I had to do to my car was to trim off a protruding bolt. The bolt is part of the pivot for the headlight bucket.

The headlights are amazing during my midnight mountain runs. The low beams were about the same in output as my hella e-codes with 80/100w hella bulbs. The high beam is at lease 2x more light as the e-codes.

I have been to the dragon about 3 times with these and worn out a set of tires without a single problem out of them.

A+ product

Josh

I'm not a fan of plastic lenses for many reasons. What would be the price with glass housings albeit e46 design?

Man did I just not read thoroughly? I would've been majorly disappointed when they came in the mail if I got these.

I second the request for a price with glass housings.

The reason I chose plastic is because it's 99% clear as opposed to glass which is something like 76% well thats what the people on an aquarium show said lol. I have tested the glass and plastic and the glass distorted the cutoff.

I can do the glass housing for $450.

Sgtbaker 09-27-11 01:46 AM

hmmmmm things to ponder

cbrock 09-27-11 07:36 PM

Uh most modern cars are plastic these days. I don't see what the problem would be

HOZZMANRX7 09-28-11 12:56 PM

Uh, and most modern cars have problems with the headlight plastic fogging and yellowing out. They may be 99% clear when new, but after a bit of weathering not so much.

The flips up solve that problem :)

HOZZMANRX7 09-28-11 01:44 PM

I agree for the most part considering the only time the headlights are exposed to the elements are at night. So the weather degradation should be substantially retarded. But it's still going to happen.

I also get that you chose plastic for the superior performane. But the over engineer in me would rather go glass so I can count on no worse than 76% for the long term. :)

Also, let me say to cbrok:

uh

HOZZMANRX7 09-28-11 01:49 PM

Sidebar, have you thought about creating a kit like this for FB's? If you can source a round housing shallow like what you did for the FC (compared to Sakebombs), perhaps that might come together.

Sgtbaker 09-29-11 01:43 AM

One more question. Would these work with a vented headlight cover? Or would the vent interfere with the housings?

HOZZMANRX7 09-29-11 10:23 AM

^ Good one. I'll bet not from one of the pictures. At least, one with a NACA type duct.

HOZZMANRX7 09-29-11 10:27 AM

This picture. But, there are other ways to get cold air to the cone filter.

Yes, I have made a fb prototype but I don't own one so it hard for me to do test fits.

Also for the vented headlight cover question I am pretty sure it fits the retrofitted housing is the same as OEM besides the depth.

Ma7daPOW3R 02-02-12 09:22 PM

Are you still making these? If so, its $470 for plastic and $450 for glass?

abdrummer12 04-03-12 09:57 PM

If your still making these, I would definatly be interested in picking up a set!!!

kevyeewy 04-14-12 01:56 AM

Interested for fc and fd; e46 shroud. What do they cost?
