FC semi-solid diff mount
 

I would like to introduce my company as a new vendor here, ive been around the rotary community for a while but only recently decided to start making products for public sale.

I own a small fab/machine shop and I also do fab work for one of the top auto shop and parts distributer located in AZ


The mounts i make replace the oem mounts that are prone to break.


Ill include a pinion stubber kit along with my style of mount which there are a few styles, 1) solid 2) semi solid (delrin) 3) stiffer than oem but unbreakable

Ill try to get a few sets built shortly for pics, this is more of an interest thread for a group buy and feel out what people are willing to pay.

I'm all for inexpensive parts due to the fact my overhead is almost zero, however this doesn't mean a compromise in quality

what mounts are you talking about????

sorry about that, they are front diff mounts, im sure i can make some rear diff mounts also

Just want to throw this out there. Just as a caution to you as a vendor and to the people buying a solid front mount:

If you are in need of a stronger mount because you keep breaking the rubber front mount, it will be in your best interest to reinforce the mounting tabs on the rear subframe that this will attach to. If you do not, and you install the solid front diff mount, you will most likely be ripping the metal mounting tabs right off the subframe.

Can't edit posts here, but that being said, I am all for this product. The pinion snubber kit will definetly help prevent those metal tabs breaking off if not reinforced.

you are indeed correct, my product does not require modification of the subframe as many race sanctions dont allow you do make subframe modifications.

you can get a better idea of how my mount setup works once i get some sets made and take pictures. the ones people locally like the best are the ones with polyurethane bushings. they are stiffer than stock but not solid. also they are built in a manner that doesnt allow them to break like the "typical" mounts..that combined with the pinion stubber

what would everyone be interested in paying for something like this? ill offer a lifetime warranty on the mount (minus bushings which you can purchase pretty much anywhere)

well, you'll need the old mounts to build the new ones so that would depend on if you are supplying the cores or not. unless you're making the whole things from scratch, then i'd guess around a hundred bucks sounds reasonable.

:P i make everything, no cores needed thankfully, dont you love owning a mill???

ill have the parts waterjet cut, then mill them, then tig weld them

im waiting on some tooling for the mill, which will be here saturday, i should have the materials in on monday or hopefully sooner...then ill get crackin on the mounts and start a group buy like i did on the fuel rails

wow lots of interest, i just got a bunch of tooling for the mill so ill get to work on making a batch!

taking lots of measurements and getting things in place to make a prototype :) the finished product will be waterjet cut, welded, and some mill work

here is a solidworks drawing of the mounts ive been making for a few people, ive been wanting to get these made extremely nice..waterjet cut etc...

if i get a group buy of 10 paid for, i will pay to have the parts waterjet cut and powdercoated

basically it works like this....there are polyurethene bushings that are on each side of the center piece held in with bolts. the center piece sticking up has over sized holes to allow the diff mount to move yet still be stiff

i will include the pinion stubber with instructions on how to install the whole kit.

i will work out the final engineering points to that replacement bushings can be bought at autozone/checker/etc...

where the mount bolts to the subframe, those are hex also instead of the welded bolt/nut. each piece will be tapped being its .250 thick

let me know whatcha think :) i have ran this style in all of my fc's and a few friends/customers fc's all with great success...not a single broken one yet

the way its looking now, $170 shipped per mount, possible to get that a little lower, just depends on what the waterjet guy says :)

im estimating about 2 hours to make each mount

another quick prototype before i send the cad file out for waterjet.

ive made them out of steel in the past and will continue to do so, i will for 2 mounts, make them out of aluminum...anyone willing to run the aluminum ones?? untested...

if it breaks ill send a steel one overnight shipping free of charge

i think the aluminum one will be plenty strong :) and yes its your diff its on haha makes it so much easier to test fit!
