Lightbulb March 2016 FD RX7 Antenna Adapter GB

Hello. I'd like to introduce myself as AntennaAdapters. I'm a new GB vendor for March and I plan to drop in every couple of months and offer ~ 100 adapters for a GB sale. This item was previously sold by me under another username but I found out that this wasn't allowed by IBs so I'm starting fresh on this account to keep my business and personal accounts separate.

Welcome to my March 2016 FD RX7 Antenna Adapter GB - The adapter that will replace your dated telescoping antenna with a modern S2000 antenna. All while looking like a factory piece.

Here are some pictures of my personal car using the adapter with an OEM S2000 antenna:

This kit was designed from the ground up to be as plug and play as possible. The installation is completely reversible if you want to return the antenna to stock at any point in the future.

At the heart of the kit is the 6061 Aluminum adapter machined to 0.005" for a precision interference fit in the stock antenna base:

The adapter was painstakingly designed to properly connect to the stock internal Mazda antenna connections inside the base unit while insulating the adapter from the chassis ground.

Production / GB version on the Left vs an early prototype on the Right

Requirements

This kit works by utilizing the stock antenna base unit. Consequently, you'll need a stock antenna base unit along with all the parts it uses to make its exit out of the passenger rear quarter panel. If your grommet and locking retainer / nut haven't aged well simply due to the fact that it forms the external section of the stock antenna, you can order new ones using the Mazda part # FD01-66-A9Y. This is the part number for both the grommet and the locking retainer/nut.

You'll also want to purchase a compatible antenna to use with the adapter. This adapter was designed to work with OEM Honda S2000 antenna which is part number 39151-S2H-E01. You can easily google this part number and find a dozen dealers that will happily sell you one for ~$25 shipped. Alternatively, there are plenty of aftermarket solutions. As long as you can get one that's threaded for M5x0.8 (most are) it should fit very well. SnailBums is another vender here and a friend of mine who sells quite a few aftermarket antennas which work well with this kit. Please see the post below for information relating to his antennas.

Installation

See the installation tutorial here:

GB Length and Shipment Info

I have 100 antenna adapters and I'm currently set to run this GB from now until April 4th. After that date I'll be going on a little vacation, so if there are antenna adapters still left, they'll get re-listed sometime later in April / May.

Right now I only have two shipping options. One for within the USA and one to Canada. US Orders are shipped USPS Priority with tracking. Canadian orders are shipped 1st class (priority is available but it's closer to $30)
If you're interested in the adapter and live outside of these areas, please PM me and we can discuss it.

Orders will normally ship within 24hrs. This GB is going to be setup a little bit differently than the GBs preceding it. I'm going to have a paypal buy button below so you can place your orders immediately and I will ship your adapter ASAP. No waiting on a list to fill up

Purchase

Click one of the following links to start the paypal checkout:

Adapter ONLY = $50 shipped within the USA / $55 Shipped to Canada. 95 available.

Adapter + OEM S2000 Antenna = $73 shipped within the USA / $78 Shipped to Canada. *LIMITED Quantity* Only 5 available then you'll have to source your own OEM or aftermarket antennas.

Please let me know if you have any questions / comments

For your convenience, here are some aftermarket antenna offerings from SnailBums shown on my car using my antenna adapter.

From left to right

1. Torque Solutions 2" - $30 shipped
2. Torque Solutions 4" - $30 shipped
3. Agency Power 4" - $30 shipped
4. Cusco 4" - $40 shipped
5. Honda OEM S2000 - 39151-S2H-E01 (not offered by SnailBums)

I created a video review of the above antennas and rated each antenna's reception based on how clear my radios presets came in. The video is a 1 take quickie made with a smartphone so don't expect high production quality, but it does
show you the process I used to rate the antennas.

For those of you that just want to skip to the ratings, I rated the reception of the antennas in the following order:

1. Honda OEM S2000 - 39151-S2H-E01
2. Cusco 4"
3. Agency Power 4"
4. Torque Solutions 4"
5. Torque Solutions 2"

And here are some related pictures:

Cusco 4"

The cusco's reception was excellent. The only caveat was that it didn't screw down flush with my adapter.

Agency Power 4"

Torque Solutions 4"

Torque Solutions 2"

Honda OEM S2000 - 39151-S2H-E01

If you're interested in purchasing any of the above aftermarket antennas, please PM SnailBums directly.

Thank you
Lane

I must say, thanks for taking the time to make such a nice thorough post.

I have some questions. Sorry if you answered

if I went with the smaller one will I still get good reception? With the smaller one there is no gap correct?

Sorry for the dumb question...I have a hd radio. The small one won't cause a problem correct?

Thanks.

The review video posted above will really give you a better idea of how I rate each antennas reception. Grab some popcorn and watch it and let me know if your still confused after giving it a go.

The only antenna with the small gap is the cusco. The 2" torque solutions antenna screws in flush.

No, this won't interfere with your satellite radio. Two seperate / independent systems.

I compliment you on the thorough post then ask questions you answered. Sorry. For some reason vid didn't load initially

I will take the adaptor and the 2inch antenna

Edit : I am on snailbums.com. I am ordering the 2 inch super stubby. It says it's for Evo. This is the correct one right?

Might want to PM snailbums directly. I haven't really mapped out his whole website so I'm not sure where everything is or how it's listed.

FYI - To anyone that's curious, I'll deliver to Military APO addresses. It'll be the same $50 it costs people within the USA.

Sold 2 more adapters overnight that will go out tomorrow morning.

Just placed my order. I'm glad I randomly came across this thread, I hate having that huge antenna go up just to get poor reception.

Had a little delay due to a long bmw vanos repair on my daily, so a couple of orders took a little longer than 24hrs to get in the mail. All current orders are shipped as of now though. Thank you for your patience.

*Update* As of the FULL kit options that included the OEM S2000 antenna are sold out. I'm not planning on restocking the OEM antennas as they haven't been easy for me to get in bulk. This means you'll either need to source an aftermarket antenna (PM Snailbums) or source an OEM antenna (part number 39151-S2H-E01).

Thanks
Lane

Just received the kit and installed it.

Installation was really easy. I still had the drain tube attached to my stock antenna, but I was able to remove it from the car without needing to take off any panels. I just used a rubber stopper to plug off the hole where the drain tube used to be (inside the quarter panel).

Hi everyone

Thank you for the orders to date.

I just wanted to let you all know that I'm taking a 1 week vacation and because of that and orders placed between now and the 17th will go out on April 18th. Sorry that this is kindof a tricky notification. rx7club.com will not let me edit my title or original post, otherwise I'd put it in bold at the top of the page.

Anyone who placed their order before this post will have their shipment go out this morning.

Thanks again
Lane

Thank you. Your adapter and the rest of the orders I received last week will go out in the morning. You should have a tracking number emailed to you (via your paypal email address) momentarily.

Thank you for your business

Adapters ordered through the weekend are going out this morning. Thanks!

My vendor dues are up on 5-4-16 (2 days from this post). I'm planning on taking at least a month off from selling to regroup. I'm going to take another shot at being able to offer the full kit again that comes with the OEM antenna. Seems like a quite a few people were dissapointed I couldn't carry it anymore. I'll keep you posted. Anyone who wants an antenna adapter quickly better get their order in asap because my inbox will be locked after the 4th. Otherwise I'll catch y'all on the flipside.
