I picked up the levers that the pedal faces mount to from waterjet today. The machine shop is scheduled to finish the rest of the parts on the 30th. I also bought a welder since I am no longer at my old job who's welder I was using. The new welder is awesome and not to start a debate between pulse vs traditional welding... but the welds look much better from a rookie like me.

can this area be welded completely around? will it get in the way of other parts when installed? I personally would like it welded all around.

I'm not a welder...but considering each pedal has two sides of that area to be fully welded times 150+ pedals to weld...will significantly increase amount of work. And its not really something you see unless you poke your head down under...but if Matt is willing to do it then great!

I see no need for extensive welding at that pivot. If your accelerator cable drags that much you have more serious issues. And it seems late in the thread to be bringing this up. If it's a concern to you, don't buy it.

As a journeyman steamfitter, I can assure that significant tacks on that area on both sides is more than sufficient. As a matter of fact, it may be better to NOT weld it out as the full weld would create a much larger heat affected zone, along with more tension in the metal. Being a pivot point, the load is being supported by the strongest direction of the metal, and the tube is merely a stabilizing load.

I would recommend NOT welding it out completely as it runs a greater risk of weakening the beam/plate on the axis of greatest load.

Sorry for missing some responses the last few days, my new job is HECTIC!

The circled area actually cannot be welded at all. That picture was a prototype and those arent tacks but grinded off weld. The spring goes on that side and there is no room for a welds. As others have mentioned as far as strength is concerned the weld is vast overkill. Also, I want to match the OEM pedals which have a weld on one side. I will post some better pictures after I have gotten some more practice on spares.

TLDR circles area cannot be welded at all but the other side is fully welded. Anyone who is wants to get a part but missed the GB PM or post here and I will add you to a wait list.

Hi Everyone, another update.

Machine shop contacted me today. All parts were supposed to be delivered today, they say they have completed 4 parts, I think the pivot points, lhd dead pedals, rhd dead pedals, and oe pedal faces. We are still waiting on the piece the throttle cable connects to and the wide pedals.

They also said they made 6 extra rhd dead pedals, and 21 extra OE gas pedals. As of now I told them we dont have the funds to purchase their extras. Once all parts are completed and we know how many SETS of pedals we can make, not just pedal faces, and if people are interested, I will take a few more payments so we have enough cash to buy off the extras.

Their new completion date is 7/12, next week I plan on buying the current completed parts so I can start bending, blasting and welding what is ready.

STAY TUNED!
Matt

as stated above. I was paying enough attention from the old thread to the new thread. When the time comes or the opportunity is available i have funds ready to join in on a regular pedal and dead pedal. Thank you!

Hi Guys, sorry for the late replies, was busy with family and friends during the holiday weekend.

So for whatever reason the shop has made quite a few extras, we will see how many pedal sets I can make with their extras. As soon as they give me final numbers I will message everyone who missed the GB and is interested in a set of pedals.

As of last update shop should be done with parts on the 12th. I am sure it will take me longer than expected to bend, blast, and weld the parts but I am aiming to start shipping the week of the 24th of july.

Hi, I havent been on the forum since before 7/10. Machine shop is still working on the LHD dead pedals, and cable connections. A bit frustrated since they are about 2 weeks late now. I definitely plan on having them all shipped before August ends.

Machine shop called me this afternoon, I can pickup the parts in the morning.

They said the machine run time was about 2x what they estimated and apologized for the delay. If we do another run it will definitely be more expensive because they underbid.

Final part count leaves us with approximately this many extras.
LHD DP 29
RHD DP 21
OE GAS 22
WIDE GAS 15

Macer and Exidous, I will add you to my wait list, its looking like it shouldnt be a problem to get everyone on the wait list the parts they want.
