Kudos Ray Crowe/interior trim piece

Those FD interior trim pieces are getting brittle with time. I know. Today I snapped a plastic trim screw and its sping clip surround even though I was using a trim clip removal tool.

I feared a minor trim part such as this might have gone out of stock long ago.

Well, kudos once again to Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda. Not only did he take the time to deal with this trivial matter, he came up with the factory part at a reasonable price, and I can look forward to some quick shipping. He turned around an "Oh, sh*t!" moment for me and left me with a pleasantly surprised resolution.

My mood and my FD thank him. He lives up to his legend on this Forum.

Glad you're happy with Ray and his customer service :)

I'm always amazed by how quickly he can ship me parts, I usually get stuff next day from him :icon_tup:

Can you imagine if we didn't have Ray? Can you imagine if we all had to rely on local Mazda dealerships for OEM parts? This is a truly scary thought. We should all buy Ray a Christmas present every year. "Asset to the community" is an understatement.

Local dealership true story: Before I was on this site I went to my local Mazda dealership here in Tallahassee for a replacement relay and actually had a salesman come up to me and ask "Hey, what kind of car is that?". Fail.

Way ahead of ya there :)

Ray has always mentioned that he'd like to upgrade to the 99 spec taillights...... Supernaut generously donated his converted lights for big Ray. They had some scratches so I took them to a local body shop for some professional buffing. They came out great, and Ray just received them yesterday. He called me all excited, he said he can't wait to get them on and show them off at Deal's Gap :icon_tup:

For anyone that hasnt figured it out yet, Ray is the effing man!!! Glad he could help you out.

i tried to order some parts from Malloy the other day. I guess Ray was out and I thought - meh, I'll see if this guy could figure it out. Well, it went horribly. The guy finally just told me he didn't know what part I wanted without a number. I just hung up. I'll call back later.

it wasn't even that hard of an order: water level sensor + o-ring and the FC fan switch.

haha I just ordered the thermosensor the other day and the guy had to go out and ask the tech and it took like 15 mins for them to figure out which part is was.

Without Ray around I think FD ownership would be a lot more stressful. Whenever I need anything it's really just a call away. He's either a crazy fast typer, or he's memorized all the damn part numbers. He usually has everything totaled up the second I'm done talking. It's amazing. Even the all the injector diffusers and o-rings etc.

Gen2n3 02-24-10 06:37 AM

hands down, Ray is the MAN!

staticguitar313 02-24-10 06:46 AM

Ray is a legend he's like The Dude, only for FD parts, he's just that awesome.

Chris_V 02-24-10 09:51 AM

Amen, Ray usually can figure out the part your looking for just by giving him a brief description. I usually get my stuff next day and im on the opposite side of the country from malloy mazda.

David Hayes 02-24-10 10:53 AM

I've ordered countless parts from Ray and have always had a fast, courteous, positive experience. I'm down for thanking him at DGRRX. Any other ideas, Scrub or Goodfella? Or Ray?:)

XLR8 02-24-10 11:54 AM

Satisfied customer here. Ray is on point with parts, and fast shipping.

Someone is getting a fruit basket this year ;)

Supernaut 02-24-10 01:28 PM

We should all chip in and get him something for his birthday every year to appease him and keep him with us. This community would be ALOT smaller without him. I wouldn't be surprised to see that everyone in the U.S. has at least one part that originated from Malloy. He's like the Genghis Khan of mazda parts.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...4_genghis.html
"nearly 8 percent of the men living in the region of the former Mongol empire carry y-chromosomes that are nearly identical. That translates to 0.5 percent of the male population in the world, or roughly 16 million descendants living today."

I'm glad Ray is liking the lights!!

Like many others I was amazed at the service I got from Ray.

Ordering new pillowballs was a matter of telling him I need new pillowballs, and Ray replying with "that will be $422 shipped" or whatever the price was - no need to look it up. Had them 2 days later.

The 99 taillights is a great gesture! :icon_tup:

David Hayes 02-26-10 07:00 AM

So how about something from the rest of us? Anyone with good ideas?

lilfreddie 02-26-10 07:20 AM

Lets get him something really nice!

I have two to three FD's at the shop at all times and Ray is always there for me. I am in on the gift idea. He is a pillar in the FD community! It is so nice dealing with someone who knows our FD's in and out. Secondly he will be at Deals Gap this year and if I make it all his Cold ones will be on ME!

Yes, I was thinking we could present something to him at DGRRX. I need help though in determining what he'd like most.

grimple1 02-26-10 06:37 PM

just keep buying from him and his sales numbers will stay high and he'll get the rewards from the Mazda Sales Division. He's usually really really high up in the rankings. I always thought it was the smartest thing a parts person could do. KNOW your market. Ray does and does it well.

One thing he's looking for (which is tough to find) is a 1994-95 *red* passenger side seatbelt.

I've 'upgraded' my 93 R1 black belt to the nicer 94-95 style (the 93 pieces look like a school bus seatbelt, it matches the steering wheel I guess ) but the red ones arent available through mazda anymore.

robertstadnick 02-26-10 07:05 PM

Ray is the Mann!!!, I'm restoring a car that was used for parts... He's helped me replace all the little stuff I needed... I'll second that fruit basket... :)

yea, have to talk to Ray only... ill call back next day if i have to

cpnneeda 02-27-10 11:02 AM

Hey Rich, have a pic of the seat belt? If we can't find one from Mazda, maybe there is an aftermarket place that may match it??? Worth a shot, for all he does for us.

HA! It's like that in person too. I live about 10 minutes away from Malloy Mazda, and its more frustrating in person some time. But as long as Ray is there You get what you need.
I tried to order a Transmission mount for an FC from one of the other guys and he went back, pulled and brought two engine mounts up front!

Needless to say, I came back.
