Evergreen Turbo

Let's just start by saying my first 3 attempts at making a hybrid turbo for my convertible didn't work. I kept trying to have a local diesel shop balance my assembly, but every time I would assemble it, I would end up with a destroyed compressor. Turns out, they were statically balancing the wheel and shaft separately.

I finally had enough playing around and asked for a reputable shop that could balance my turbo for me. I gave Charlie at Evergreen Turbo a call, and he recommended that I send my CHRA as well. He inspected the CHRA and made the decision to have the bearing bores machined, and he machined the turbine shaft as well. Included in the package was .005" over/under sized bearings, a new turbine shaft seal, all applicable components properly media blasted and cleaned, and most importantly, a properly-balanced rotating assembly.

I have been boosting on this turbo for a few weeks now. T04B at 15 psi all day long with absolutely no issues. After my first 5 psi pull I pulled the turbo inlet off to inspect the compressor blades to find that they were all there still!

Not only did Evergreen have my turbo back to me within a few short days, the price was way less than you'd expect as well.

Charlie at Evergreen Turbo gets my highest recommendation to anyone building a turbo
