Yes another no start
 

89 RX-7 GXL N/A.

The engine sounds to be spinning and I know it getting fuel, but I'm not sure if it firing. I dont hear it hitting like I normally do.

I've tried several methods thinking its a flooded engine. I've taken the plugs out and cranked the engine by hand to try and get some air in to dry out the gas.

I've tried the old fuse trick.

The car just wont start and it doesn't sound like its trying to either.

Did you do a compression check yet.Did you check to see if you have spark.

Do you get good sounding pulses? If it sounds like it is spinning with no resistance you may need the ATF trick. If it sounds good then make sure you have spark but shutting off the gas somehow, fuse, whatever, and then stick the plugs near the shock tower and crank. You should see sparks.

Only real way is to KNOW what is happening. You know your battery is spinning the engine. You think you have fuel (how do u know?) You think you may have spark (how do u know?). I got my no starting engine running (Bad fuel pump)

1: Getting voltage to starter /etc (obvious..is it cranking?)
2: Getting spark? U can hook a timing light up to L1 and have someone crank the motor you should get the light to flash, and if u aim it at the crank pulley, you should see the timing mark (good if u are).
3: Next jumper the fuel pump test terminal and turn the ignition to on. YOu should hear the pump hum. U can also disconnect the fuel line and measure how much fuel you get in 10 seconds.. (multply that by 6 and thats how much fuel you are getting in 1 minute). Flow is important. IF you have fuel/air/spark in the proper time it will start or at least try.

If you are getting all 3 why not swap in some good (New) plugs after doing the ATF routine (i pour 2 table spoons into the leading chamber (with the plugs out). HOld a rag over the hole (So you dont get ATF mist all over everything) and crank for a few seconds.) U can also try to spray a little starter fluid on the air filter and close up the box. Thats 1 way to check if u have spark. Starter fluid just needs a spark to run. Good luck!
Remember, step by slow deliberate step until you find out what the problem is is the best (ie cheap) way to fix the real problem rather than throwing money (ie parts) at it.
oh BTW is your tach needle jumping when u crank? Tach needs a signal from the ecu (which feeds from the trailing coil) so if those are not right no spark/no ecu/no start.

I got the engine started, problem is its still smoking and burning oil. The termal pellet didn't fix the issue.
