Why pre-mix?

What does pre-mixing accomplish? How do I pre-mix? Are there any drawbacks to pre-mixing?

Sorry for the noob questions, but I've been wondering these ?'s for some time now.

You might want to do a search for "pre-mix" because I am sure there are posts out there:)

Only pre-mix if you have no Oil Metering Pump, or Metering Oil Pump depending on who you ask:) If you want to pre-mix just dump in an ounce for a gallon of gas. Drawbacks? A little more to do at the gas station.

I premix with Marvel Mystery Oil. It's supposed to reduce wear and help seal, but if anything, it's at least extra insurance and piece-of-mind.

Do a search.

I'm getting a new engine as we speak ... and when i saw the inside of my FD motor that had never had the joy of premix ... the need for it became abundantly clear. The OMP injects oil into the engine through a small hole. Well ... around the inside of the housing where that oil is injected was perfectly shiny and hardly any wear. it was about a centimeter wide ... with a centimeter on either side that didn't get the oil. On either side of the shiny stripe ... the housings wear carboned up and worn out. I can elaborate more on this ... just PM me.

In short, I'm going to premix on my new motor.

There are several different premix oils you can choose from:

Marvel Mystery Oil
Mobil 1 MX4T
Pettit Protek-R
Klotz 50:1 2-stroke TC-W3

Hope this helps

two-stroke oil burns in combustion better than most motor oils. and since the engine is lubed like a oil injection two-stroke but not useing two-stroke oil.
The 2-st oil is saposed to lubericate better than motor oil because this is what it was designed to do. Motor oil is not designed for rotarys and the closest thing to a oil designed for a rotary is 2-st oil.

Make sense?

One thing i forgot to mention ... Whatever 2-stroke oil you choose to use ... make sure it says "TC-W3" on the bottle.
