Where to get a 10,000 redline 13b?

Hey guys I used to own a 88 rx7? i wonder if any of you guys remmeber me? anywways after spending close to 8k on my fc I finally sold it and i just bought a 99 miata emerald green. I hate piston!!!! So i want to swap in a 10,000 rpm redlien rotary but i want it ot be reliable. Its been over 8 months since i posted a thread so I dont know where to even begin? how much do you think it will cost me for the engine, and Standalone?

arghx 04-16-06 11:51 PM

more than 8k

[/thread]

rx7b13 04-17-06 12:43 AM

it will cost you quite a bit. do want a turbo or keep it n/a? but if you want a redline at 10k you will have to rebuild every 30-40k miles. but all in all im wanting to say for the engine it would run close to $3k. and be sure to get a flywheel scatter plate.

KeloidJonesJr. 04-17-06 12:47 AM

High comp.

CrypticApathy 04-17-06 12:52 AM

carborate it

fcdrifter13 04-17-06 01:36 AM

WHy have 10k if theres no power there to use.

garlic 04-17-06 01:51 AM

If you ported the intake and exhaust ports, you should be able to make power to 10K. Do some searching on Ausrotary (http://www.ausrotary.com) there are a bunch of guys on there who drag race rotaries, I am sure they can tell you what your best plan of attack should be

fcdrifter13 04-17-06 01:53 AM

Yes, but most driveable porting only make power to 8.5k from what I have seen.

garlic 04-17-06 02:04 AM

i dunno, some of the bridgies guys over here do make power alot higher than 8.5K. I have seen (and heard) a Peripheral Port 13B flying down the straight at well over 10K and still accelerating.. note the PP was a race spec engine, and bridgies are just nuts.

so, PeruvianRX7, you can get a 13b which redlines very high, but expect to pay some serious $$$ for it.

fcdrifter13 04-17-06 02:13 AM

I wasnt saying it is impossible to get power up there, its just damn expensive. And why would you need power up there anyways. Most people want it just to say that they have it.

Naegleria_Fowleri 04-17-06 02:20 AM

I would love to say I make power up to 10,000 rpms, but at the same time I don't want to have to rev to 4 grand to see power. I would much rather my power hit earlier and have an 8.5k rpm top.

garlic 04-17-06 05:50 AM

fcdrifter13 & Normality_Glitch: agree with you 100%. I just didn't want to question the reason PeruvianRX7 wanted a high revving motor. If I ever get the cash to build up a circuit car, I daresay I would want a high revving engine, as it won't see less than 4-5K. perhaps peruvianrx7 wants it for this application?

PeruvianRX7: If you were in Aus, I could probably tell you a few shops which would build what you are looking for. Your not, so my help is pretty much limited to giving you the Ausrotary forum, which should contain a few ideas on how you can acheive what you are looking for, I am pretty sure folk there have done what you are looking to do (though the engine probably ended up in an RX3 :D)

Good luck with your project, sounds like that little Miata will be quite the sleeper

Peruvianrx7 04-17-06 08:22 AM

thanks for all the replies guys. Well I wanted an N/A motor but because I just realized that if i make power like all of you said only past 4k then everything before that will just be useless. I also wanted to streetable like a daily driver so maybe 9k? haha Is just that a gay ass 2.0L engine for the miata is freaking 7 grand and it barely makes 175 fly hp. I can't never forget the sound of my rx7 rushing to 8k when I had it... It was so pure so so pure!

snowball 04-17-06 09:27 AM

just go buy a renisis engine. same as they used in the rx-8. Since even to do the older engines would take tons of custom work. renisis makes 238hp and redlines at 9k.
if your intrested i can ask my dad how much he paid and where he got his.

__dave__ 04-17-06 10:44 AM

300hp n/a motor @ 10k rpm will probably last less than half as long as a 300hp turbo motor @ 6k rpm

FC3MAN 04-17-06 04:15 PM

Yeah My Miata, has A 1.8 Thank God,sorry You Have A Ford Engine In There 2.0l So The Miata Must Be Brand New My 96 Topped Out At 127mph On The Chip In 5th Gear
At 6500,racing Beat Put A Tii Eng Ect, In An Older (1996)miata Jus A Thought

Peruvianrx7 04-17-06 07:30 PM

LOL.... I have a 1.8L is a 99 base. I was just saying that the 2.0L was 7k to buy and install so a rotary would be cheaper and of course have a higher redline with more HP!

peejay 04-17-06 08:44 PM

10,000rpm redline /= long lived.

this is not true below 4 grand its still makes power just not as much....below 4 grand its still makes more power than a stock motor or a small street port..it just doesint feel like its making any power caz you are use to that power in the higher RPM's

but there is still more power than stock on the bottom end..would still be streetable :ky:

Peruvianrx7 04-18-06 03:38 PM

Sxe?

derekrol 04-23-06 03:58 AM

Thear is a 4 rotor fd in new zealand that revs to 9k and makes around 600hp

neektar 04-23-06 09:10 AM

N/A BP. Get 3mm carbon apex seals. port exhaust intake and intake manifold. Carburated (holley double pumper) port the rb intake to that. FMOC.Straight anti-freeze (no premix). dual alt pulley (nothing else just engine and alt) Soldered timing, straight 3 in exhaust. TII tranny w/scatter plate. Full roll cage. Pump gas.

God help you
