what tools do you use on your cars?
 

ok i thought it would be cool to talk about some of the tools we use on ower cars ill start

i use snapon tools and some craftmen

Basic cheapo parts store kit. It has almost everything one would need to get down on your engine...

redneck engine hoist, pipe and chain, me and my dad
powerbuilt from kragens
big hammer
cutting torch, that was fun
lots of homemade stuff, give steel and my welder I can make anything

Kragen auto parts tool kit, various wrenches and sockets, hammer.

Majority of my shit is Craftsmen other than some random shit I buy occasionnaly because I'm in serious need at the time and Craftsmen was just too damn expensive. Advance Auto brand Torque Wrench, Tap & Die set, and Compression Tester. Bought a Craftsmen MIG welder a few years back, think that's my most expensive tool =).

I use whatever tools you find in an auto parts store. Most of it has lifetime guarantee, and Sears is way the hell across town from me. The only craftsman thing I have is a 3/8" ratchet. Impact wrench, sockets, and compressor from either Home Depot or Lowes, I can't remember. I love using ramps, I feel so much safer than using jack stands. I also keep the MSC industrial tool catalog handy, for things like specific drill bits and taps.

I got craftsman and MAC. Also the best tool ever I think are the craftsman sockets for rounded off bolts. BEST EVER.

Work: Craftsman and Snap-On (we get a 350 dollar a year tool allowance) I prefer craftsman because I can get a whole hell of a lot more for the money than Snap-On.


And miller welders, best you can get

Craftsman - lifetime warranty: if anything ever breaks/cracks, just take it in to Sears and they'll give you a new one.

I haven't seen these when I go to buy tools, do they have a specific series name? Could totally use a set...

Mostly Craftmens but for some few things you need good tools (going in to be AST Automotive Service Technicain) liek small picks you need good ones, cause yes lots of places have soem sweet lifetime warrenttee's but when you are in the middle of the job and the thing beaks then what? you are getting paid flat rate, it can realyl suck. so sum stuff is worth paying a hell of a lot more for, but only a few things.
