Manual suggests 10w30, non-synthetic. There is A LOT of debate about synthetic vs. non-synthetic which you can read about if you search around, I won't go into it though. A lot of people us Castrol GTX 20w50, some people suggest against 10w40 because the additives used to get this temperature spread don't burn as well, and I personally use 10w30, usual brand name stuff (doesn't matter too much to me) and change it quite often (under 2k miles since I don't drive the car a lot).

One item I'd like address is the classification. If you want ideal protection, use a motor oil, non synthetic, with both a S (Spark Ignited) as well as a C (Compression ignited/Commercial) designation. Castrol GTX, a while back was classified S/C, but the motor oil now is not designated for commercial use. It has just the SJ classification. Next time look around the store and you'll probably be able to find a SJ/CF. Have been using it for years. in both n/a rotaries, and turbos.15-40.
