What are the adjustments for HKS SS BOV??

There seem to be different sound levels that u can do.

What are the pros and cons?

Theres a sound adjustment?

i thought it only adjusted spring stiffness?

BATMAN 08-29-02 08:34 AM

nope, it's the blow off valve

Pros: The louder the BOV, the more teenyboppers you will attract at high school parking lots
Cons: You may also attract the child safety committee

I know of the nut and bolt out on the back that's used for adjusting the spring tension or whatever. Tighter - holds more boost, loose - blows off at lower boost.
Mine isn't that loud either. I think it's adjusted too tight. My friend has the same one on his Supra and it's LOUD.

what's with the mode that flutters?

peejay 08-29-02 06:39 PM

wouldn't that be "too tight"?

Doesn't it "flutter" when you have compressor surge? Isn't that a bad thing?

peejay 08-30-02 05:26 PM

but it sounds cool man! screw turbo life! :)

- PJ (why bother having a BOV at all...)

i think when it's hard, the pressure wave heading back to the turbo has to be stronger to push it open, hence the BOV opening less.. less open = more hiss!

What's the best setting for the Spring Adjustment (default seems about midway).

My unit came with only Jap instructions and I don't want to cause any damage to the turbos!

BATMAN 08-31-02 01:21 PM

my buddy adjusted it so that it makes no noise.

so he must be doing damage...
