waterpressure build-up in engine???
 

13B REW engine's are hard to find here in Belgium (only about 10 cars in the country, go figger)

But now I've found one whit good compression on both rotors. Only the owner tells me the water was building up pressure in the engine/coolant system.

What can be the cause, and is a bad engine to buy (about 900$)
I would take it apart and renew it internally incase my current breaks down. Maybe try to have it single turbo'd .

Advise would appreciated.

Usually the cause of this is bad coolant o-rings. Your combustions gases are getting into the coolant system. This is similar to a bad head gasket on a boinger. To fix, you will need to tear down the engine and replace the seals at the very least. It is possible that the housings could be warped if the engine had been overheated. Did the previous owner notice bubbles in the coolant system?

no idea... I will ask him. He also had an overheated engine for sale for about 200$ less.
He just mentioned the first one was doing fine in the car except for the coolant pressure.

As i said, I will use as a projekt engine to rebuild and prepare. To get soem basic and practicalknowledge of the Wankel and vacuum system (I have the Mazda workshop manual and got in contact with the only race team in Belgium who races it on track). So I just need to know that the engine (more important, the rotors and housings) are rebuildable.

I suppose that it could also be something as simple as a bad radiator cap that does not allow the expanding colant into the overflow. Did it use coolant? Did it produce white smoke out of the exhaust? As long as the housing have not be warped, everything should be reusable. All that you would need is a gasket set. From my experience, the housings usually only get warped if overheated.

another stupid idea, would be that the thermostat is stuck, thereby not allowing coolant to flow ppast, and pressurizing the system. however, it does sound like the engine has a bad coolant o-ring.

As the engine is out of the car, it will be difficult to check for housing damage. Any other things to look for and check if it's ok for a rebuild?

Pull the plugs out and check for any sign of moisture... and look thru the exhaust ports (using a small torch) for the end plates getting a little rust coloured... if water has been getting in side the motor it will be expensive to re-build.
