Using o-rings contaminated with oil

Well, my understanding is that I'm supposed to avoid getting oil on the coolant o-rings during assembly. I screwed up and got a fair amount of oil on two of them (an inner and an outer). I'm wondering if I can just clean them up and use them or if I should get new ones. They were installed using hylomar and the lightweight oil that I was using on the side housing surfaces for initial startup got all over them.

Any advice is appreciated.

Most builders hold them in place with vasoline p jelly

*some* builders do that, I don't know about 'most'. Hylomar is used by Racing Beat and several others.

But my problem is that I got oil on the o-rings. I've decided to wipe them down and use them. You are right that, whether or not it's most, a lot of builders use petroleum jelly without problems so the oil must not be a kiss of death to the rubber used in the o-rings.

I just thought I remember some kind of warning, maybe from the rebuild video or the RB catalog, against getting oil on the o-rings.

Well really depends on how much oil got on them. I would use the outer ones again with hylomar for sure.
You may not want to risk using the combustion ones though.
