Trailing Plugs not firing...

so, ive had my car for about a week now and it was running fine until last Sunday. The Sat. night before I had a keyless entry installed. That evening the car didnt start initially, so I waited a few minutes with the key in the on position and it started up fine. Sunday morning I go out to play football with some friends and it started fine in the morning, about three hours later, when I go to leave the car wouldnt start. I get my friends to push start me and it starts up fine, a few minutes down the road it sputters and the rpm guage drops to zero, I give it a few revs and it comes back to life. I make the rest of the trip home fine. Thinking that I had a bad starter I replace that, I also get a new battery. The car starts up after quite a lot of cranks, I drive it around the block and park it. I had a walbro 255 laying around and I installed that. I go to start it now and the tachometer is bouncing when I crank it, and as soon as it starts there are no rpms and no trailing sparks. Thinking the battery had died I recharge fully and try it again, still nothing. At this point I take a break and charge again (even though its not low), put the old fuel pump in and still have the same problem. I take a plug and hook it to the trailing wire and ground it to the body, and I get a spark and a bouncing tach when the car is turning over, but as soon as it starts, no spark and no tach...The car is at a shop now since I dont have time to work on it...Theyve had it for three days and cant find out whats wrong with it. Any help will be appreciated, so i can tell them what to check out...TIA

When I purchased my 81 I had no tach and the trailling plugs weren't firing, After checking evrything over 3 times I finally pulled out the wiring diagrams. the only thing that seemed to affect both my tach and the trailing plugs was actually one of my igniters off the distributor... That's where I'd suggest looking! Lucky for my a co-worker had a junker so I got the ignitors from him, I hear they aren't very cheap..
Hope that helps, if not at least you can rule out one more thing!

Matt
