Hey,
I was wondering.
Some of the new high dollar cars are coming out with the Tiptronic Transmission.

For those who dont know it is manual and automatic in one tranny. It goes through the automatic gears but has a section offset that u can drive manual without a clutch.

I was wondering if this is possible to put into an fd.

And also,
if there is the exact oposite of this. and have a manual transmission and have an offset for automatic.

i personally dont like the idea of tiptronic. if it doesnt have a clutch, its AUTO. imo

Well, the reason i wanted to know this is because i'm not to good at driving manual.
And when i get the car i will be in the city. And i dont want to wreck an fd as soon as i get it.

So i wanna be able to drive automatic while i'm in traffic, etc.

But i wanna be manual when i want to run it or for the sport feel once i learn to drive it well.

It may be expensive but would it be as expensive as buying another fd. one manual and one auto ??

Just a idea i'm kicking around.


But the one i'd really like would be a manual transmission, but have like a 6th gear and that gear be automatic. then have the manual gears if i wanted it. The automatic gear wouldnt use the clutch but the manual would as normal. I dont want the one from the mr2 spider where its clutchless. cuz to me u might as well have a full automatic.

If there is such transmission, it would be VERY expansive. Probably more than what the FD is worth. I have perfect solution for ya. Buy a POS car, like a old school civic, with stick and practice couple months. Then buy the FD. I learned how to drive stick on a FD when I was 16, I didn't think it was all the hard. Took me about 2 days to get use to it. Yah, but I think FD is most of the harder car to learn driving manual from, because of its low torque at low rpm (easier to die out). But if I could do it when I was 16, you should not have a problem.
