Time for a re-build?

Hey guys. I had my car stored for just about 8 months. When I got back from my deployment one of the first things I did was give her an oil change. Before I stopped driving the car it overheated pretty bad (locked my keys in the car with the engine running, burst lower radiator hose before AA guy could get into my car. I don't remember where it was at (temp wise) when I got the car off, but there was still plenty of coolant in the engine. I know because it kept leaking out for a little while after I cut power) I have not noticed any negative after affects as a result of the overheat.

Until I went to add some more oil in the other day. This is what I found when I opened her up.

The guy at the hobby shop said it looked like I blew a head gasket (I then explained that we don't really have head gaskets).

There is no gunk on the dipstick, the radiator fluid is clean as can be and I have not lost any coolant either.

So big question: Do you think that is just condensation from sitting so long (a LOT of condensation) or is this something much more serious?

Thanks guys,

Levi

overheated? not cool at all. anyway, what's the vent on the filler neck connected to right now?

not sure. I'll check later today

Honestly I would have to say the vent is probably connected to whatever it is connected to in it's stock/factory form... I have not made any alterations to it and I don't believe the guy I bought it from did either..

Bump.

Any thoughts?

Thats just "lung butter" or "lung mustard" It isn't a sign that you need a rebuild, it just means that your crankcase isn't venting properly. That hose that is attached to the nipple on the oil fill neck leads to a purge valve which is connected to a source of vacuum. It isn't doing it's job, so you can just run a line from a vacuum source to the nipple on the oil fill neck, and it will suck out the condensation and vapors that are getting trapped.
