Temperature Problems
Hi All
I have a first gen, 83 with 123 thousand miles on it. Lately, while running perfectly well, within 10 minutes of starting it, the temperature needle is climbing rapidly into the final quarter of the gauge, and gets perilously close to the very hot end of the scale. I have noticed that on longer trips, the needle sinks back toward a more normal 1/3rd range. I'm worried. I've had the car for about two years and I'm by no means a mechanic-(I have the tools and capacity for basic maintanence)-I'm wondering what is causing this temperature spike. I've checked the coolant levels and they're ok, the oil is in the normal range, all of the belts seem to be tight. And does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this problem. Thanks for your help in advance. Chewie83 |
i had the same problem with my 91 and it was a bad radiator, u should try replacing the radiator before u blow the coolant seals
