taking a 13b and making it a 13bt

what all would i need to do this? i really want to turbo my motor without buying a turbo motor.

farberio 06-26-10 11:33 PM

Pretty much your only choice is a custom build...

Its far easier and possibly cheaper just to put in a turbo motor of the same series.

u can drop a stock turbo set up on ur 13b but has to upgrade more stuff, from fuel pump, injectors, then feed line, etc. best way is to swap it to 13bt, thats what i did, i was gonna do a bolt on before but wasn't sure if my intake manifolds can handle it n da wiring for ECU and other stuff.

alright guys. thanks for the help

this is semi inaccurate. please search for 6 port turbo before you write the idea off. lots of great info.

^^^he has a point but if you don't feel like doing a bunch of custom shit or aren't the best mechanic go with a t2 swap.

if you want to do a t2 swap and do it right heres a list of SOME stuff i gathered up while researching it myself.

engine, tranny, ecu, harness, t2 rear end with half shafts, drive shaft, bps sensor, afm sensor, tid, coils, starter, t2 throttle cable, performance spark plugs and wires, aftermarket radiator and fuel pump, atkins rebuild kit with fd corner springs, 3mm apex seals etc, stand alone or rtek chip, aluminum pulleys, port and polish, tb port, downpipe w/ 3" exhaust, boost controller, wideband o2 sensor, good tune, t2 hood, pre-mix, intake and custom enclosure, exhaust wrap for dp, oil cooler, ss oil lines, oil catch can, silicone hoses and vacuum lines, injectors cleaned, an6 fuel lines and fittings, all your guages for oil temp, water temp, pressure, boost, battery relocation kit, bov, fuel cut controller, ground charging rewire, emmision removal....all i can think of right now

Mostly because that's a list if you want a fully built turbo car, not the list if all you wanna do is a turbo swap.

you can peice it together using all oem products as i did on my s4.
-turbo/manifold(s4 or s5)
-port matched t2 lower intake manifold
-if using s4 then you'll need s4 upper intake mani
-upper t2 intake manifold
-you can use the na primary fuel rail
-you need t2 secondary fuel rail
-if s4 mani you'll need s4 fuel rail same with s5
-turbo injectors (550cc's)
-depending on s4 or s5. low or high impedence
-t2 boost map sensor
-t2 ecu
-you can still use the na throttle body
-t2 fuel pump or walbro
-t2 intercooler/pipping
-t2 front cover(for the turbo oil drain)
-racingbeat oil sandwich plate(for oil line feed purposes)
-universal oil feed line with restrictor plate t3/t4
-t2 throttle cable
-t2 mass air flow meter
-t2 oil pump
-and gaskets/hoses/clamps!

i would choose this route if i had a fresh rebuilt 6 port block that i didnt want to get rid of just cause i wanted to go turbo
