symptoms of a failed oil seal
I'm guessing constant smoke like a freight train? Anythoughts?
Thanks, Ed |
Anyone? I have a strong engine but it smokes(white) like a train. Sooo much that its not driveable. Oile seals or coolant seals?
Thanks, Ed |
White smoke like that usually means a failed coolant o-ring. Search the forum for info on that but it sounds like it's rebuild time for you.

Have to agree on this one. Oil doesn't smoke white.

Oil (blue) smoke would be more prevalent upon decel when vacuum is high.

Here is the test to check for blown oil rings:
- Rev it up to about 5k and hold it there for ~30 seconds then let off completely. If plooms of blue-gray smoke come out once you let off the rings are toast... |
my symptoms were blue smoke on acceleration. take off your exhaust manifold and see if there is oil in the chamber. that will tell you really quick :)

Thanks guys but I think its both. I had sit and idle for about 20 minutes and the smoke was more of a grayish color. All I can say is DAMN it smell FUNKY! But yeah rebuild time!
