Super Now Engine Mounts? 46mm or 36mm?
 

So I have been looking around and starting my parts hording for the up-coming build. I noticed that Super Now makes their engine mounts in two different sizes;

-Stock Height (46mm)
-10mm Down (36mm)

What is the purpouse of lowering engine 10mm? Other than lowering the center of gravity, which is nice, but it would also bringing the oil pan that much closer to the ground. Anyone have some insight on this?

The change in height of the engine depends on how worn are your stock mounts. It's possible that new mounts would actually raise your engine.

The height should be fine as long as the mounts don't raise the engine. I bought some solid poly mounts in a GB on this forum a few years back that tried to shake my car to pieces, and the mounts actually raised the engine enough such that my Cusco strut bar was putting scrape marks on my upper y-pipe.

So an actual valid concern would be the increase in NVH when going more or less "solid." Stiffer mounts will help increase throttle response, decrease rear end wheel hop, and help keep your PPF from cracking. You could also try an engine torque brace to achieve similar results.

Currently I have the Pineapple sump and Banzai mounts, and my car's pretty much slammed, and I still don't have any scrub makes on my pan.

So would you recommend a poly mount like the Banzai ones over solid ones? This car will be a track car but also a DD.

The lowered ones I believe are for people running oil pan braces.

The Banzai ones are poly, but they do flex - barely. If I grab the UIM and shake the car, I can just barely see the engine rocking, so there is a very small amount of flex. There is an increase in noise and vibration, but it's not as much as you'd think. The Banzai are adjustable too, which is a nice bonus. I'm happy with the Banzai ones. I've broken two PPF's while using the stock mounts, although my engine was pushing a lot more torque than a stock FD. There's also the torque brace option. I recommend either option if you plan on increasing the power. The Banzai ones would be perfect for the track. Hope this helps.

Why wouldn't that make sense? The brace would raise the engine 10mm, the shorter mounts would keep everything at the same height.

Alright, Im a newb. Please explain to me how, in any way, a oil pan brace would change the height of the engine.

oil pan brace? huh how would that work? anyone with 411 on this ?

Our Oil Pan Braces and others are 3/16" thick, this equals just under 5mm.

The FD oil pan brace mounts between the engine and mounting brackets, this raises the engine by 3/16". However in most cases it does not effect anything. http://banzai-racing.com/store/FD_oil_pan_brace.html

We also make them for the FC, FB, and Cosmo 13B-re & 20B engines, where motor mount bracket location does not cause the engine to be raised at all.

Anyone here have experience with the super now motor mounts themselves? Looking to pick up a set

I have a set of the lowered supernow mounts on my fc. I had more vibrations with semi-solid mounts than these. If you go solid be sure to get a set of the solid diff mounts. You don't want one part of the drivetrain moving while one is not. Shift, throttle response is drastically improved. Highly recommended.

reviving these thread to see if any more members have experience particularly with the lowered -10mm super now engine mounts for the fd which I'm looking to get mostly for clearance with the strut bar. No issues installing it in the oem steel brackets? and no other issues when lowering the engine 10mm??
