Sump Tank Welding Question....
OK this is the question... I can weld without a problem but i never welded a sump tank on. Im a little scared to weld to a gas tank though for obious reasons. Extreme heat and gas fumes just dont mix. How do you properly flush the gas tank so that i can safely weld this on with out blowing myself up.

1.Take it to a Radiator shop and have it cleaned and flushed.
2. Add ~10 lbs Dry-ICe pellets to outgas the tank 3. Run a Argon Purge to the tank while welding |
Supposedly there's not enough oxygen in a gas tank to ignite. I've heard others say that shops weld gas tanks on large trucks while they're in place and full. Hmm.
The last time I welded a tank, we emptied it and hooked the fuller neck to a shop vac to vent it. Suppse a leaf blower might work as well. Still have all of my eyebrows. |
