stuttering

Its started to stutter whether on constant throttle or accelerating, gently or WOT. It happened about 5 miles down the road from putting some more fuel in, my first thoughts were crap fuel but dont want to go driving it about if it could be something else.

Any ideas on this one?

Cheers

i have this exact same problem. mine started after it had been sitting for a few days with a dead battery and in need of replacing the brake master cylinder. After i changed it, i went ahead and threw in a walbro fuel pump i bought. thought that was the problem, turns out it wasnt. i put the stock fuel pump back in, still have the same problem. I am glad some one else is having the same problem (well...sucks that we have this problem, but its nice that its more of a common occurence than i think!!!).

anyways, anybody have a theory on why this is happening? it just bucks or stutters CONSTANTLY!!! also it doesnt really want to boost that much on the stock boost guage...probly about 1/4 way up after 0 intake manifold pressure....

Thanks guys,
Ryan Shannon.

Does your guys cars stutter at any rpm? I too have this same problem (dammit!). I rev it all I want but it won't rev past about 3000 rpms. Doesn't matter if the engine is under a load or not. If I have my foot to the floor,it will just bounce between 1500 and 2000 rpms. It's so aggravating, you fix one thing and something else goes wrong. :(

yup, thats exactly what has been up with my car. i just fixed all critical fluid leaks (aside from power steering leak...and i dont have a clutch fluid leak either. but, i fixed radiator fluid leak, brake fluid, and oil....now i have this shit)...but, i love my car. but yeah, it stutters at any rpm...very aggrivating....

guys, check your spark plugs. just checked mine, dirty like a 2 dollar ho on valentines day. cleaned them up, just checking for an exterior spark and other things right now. but everything is looking better.

Turbo_Rotary 01-07-05 08:40 PM

Well, my spark plugs are fairly new, but I'll check them out anyways.

DocMazda 01-08-05 01:21 AM

well, mine was because i put too much oil in it (i was more excited about getting it running again, and not really paying attention to how many quart containers i had sitting on the rad-shroud). so, i pull the spark plugs, theres oil all over them. damn....so, i get some brake cleaner, spray them out, rub'em down with a wire brush. spray them down some more, wipe it with an old sock. let them dry a bit. wipe out the spark-plug holes with a rag soaked in brake cleaner, put in the spark plugs again, and she fires right up! put in the new fuel pump, and now i just have boost leak at about 6k-6.5k rpms. oh well, thats what the intercooler coming in two weeks is for right? anyway, that was my problem. if you ever wonder what happens when you put too much oil in a rotary, thats what happens. it shoots into your plugs and your shit gets all coated harcore. yours could be different, so who knows. i only had about 6k miles on those plugs. i bought new ones just in case, oh well, old ones work fine. looks like i have a spare set sitting in my garage now.

Turbo_Rotary 01-21-05 10:28 PM

Well, I took the old plugs out and they were completely black. I think the Walbro is making me run a bit too rich. Well, I through some new ones on and there was no difference.
