streetport reliability

My fc s5 has 64000 miles on it, which is great. I expect the engine to last me through college. With the current mileage, if I got a streetport, how many miles do you guys think the engine will last?

if the porting and rebuild process are performed correctly, there should be no change in engine reliability. that is the whole point to a streetport. reasonable gains with little to no losses compared to a stock engine.

that said, if you only have 64,000 miles and you're going to start college, I might advise against touching the car (aside from routine maintenance) until you're on the other side of graduation. i'm under the assumption that you have a N/A and therefore your gains from porting alone are simply not really worth tearing apart a healthy 64K-mile engine - especially at this stage in your life.

Yeah thats what ive been pondering. I'm actually only a junior in high school but if I did this it'd be a few years from now anyway. But my daily college commute will be something like 50 miles a day. But not every day of the week

If I got a mild streetport how much power could I expect to gain?

Don't do it. You lose bottom end power and it feels doggy anytime under about 4K rpm which is about where you will be using it on a DD. Also you won't gain much power unless you go with a free flowing exhaust which is more money, loud, and will have trouble passing any emissions test (if you have those).

I agree with the others, I wouldn't touch the car until after graduation from college unless you buy a daily driver. That goes for any car...
