starts, idles, dies.
1982 RX7. I can start it (with choke, of course), idles at a mere 2500 rpm, warms up, choke goes in, and it will idle at around 700-800 rpm, but if I depress the gas pedal, she dies. Any thoughts? Need more info?

Really, serioiusly....no one knows?

See if you have spark at both the leading and trailing plugs.
Check entire system for vacuum leaks. More details on year/trim level would help... :) . |
Well, for the life of me, I can't find the title to make sure, but I think it is a GS model. 5-sp standard, wrap around tail, stainless steel ribbon....just the base model.
Is there an easy way to find a vacuum leak, and... where the heck is that second screw on the carb for adjusting fuel mixture...I can only find one that corresponds to the Haynes manual. |

And since you mentioned the spark plugs, is there a recommended set of spark plug wires. I replaced the original wires, but I feel that the boots are so tight that they inadvertently pull the wires out far enough to cause the connectors to become unplugged...this has happened once already. |
For good carb info, www.sterlingmetalworks.com
Check out the section "Tuning the Nikki" for setting the idle speed/mixture... |
