Stacking rotors...
 

Hey guys...i used to have a rx7 with a chevy v8, and traded it. now i am getting 3 more rx7s with motors. none of these motors work, not sure why.

maybe theyre carbon locked. i dont know much about rotarys, and i want to learn about how you stack rotors. like i said i could have 3 potential motors, which, from what ive heard would be a little much for stacking? the most ive seen was 4...fill me in please!!! thanks...later:p:

If so, I'd say if you can get the systems to run it and get it balanced properly space in the car is the biggest problem. Though I don't know too much about many rotor motors. Also, the eccentric shaft is gonna be a BIG problem. You'll definitely need a custom shaft for anything more than 4, but for 3 or 4 you can probably buy an existing one. Anything more than 4 would take SERIOUS work, not to mention the work for 4.

Are the motors equivalent? If not, no good. Probably some damaged stuff, too.

Other sites also offer 3+ rotor ecentric shafts. Very expensive. On top of that you'd need manifold, bolts,etc, expensive rebuild (for 2 rotor engine seals, etc., it's like a US G, assuming parts are ok), fuel and engine management.

Frankly, for all the trouble you'd be better off with the V8, barring your willingness to part with many thousands of dollars.

Note also, this does not mention the transmission, engine install, cooling, etc...

ok so can you run your normal two housings and flip two more rotors so the intake and exh. are on the driver side(4 rotors)(if the room is there)?? so baisicly can you run a rotary upside down if the intake was right side up and the oil fill housing was up, and you figured out the oil pan deal?

this is a waste of time. The cost is completely out off the question here.

Hmm, when i read this I thought of those big tractor pulls with 3 or 4 v8s lined up.
I suppose in a large enough vehichle you could link the 3 engines with some sort of nifty transmission or mounting front pulley to flywheel. This way you don't have to get any magical housings or eccentric shafts, but have three engines lined up putting out 160x3=480hp without a turbo, in excess of 600hp with turbos... boost them up and add gas and you could go to a reasonable 900hp... more if you port it.

drivetrain and transmission (w/e) losses are going to be larger though....
matching engine timing exactly would be hard, but that would be an awesome pull.

TURBOII, im not worried about the price, i have more than enuf money, plus most the work i would do in my fab/machine shop. its not impossible. so if they sell the 3rotor ecentric shafts for a decent price, just add one more rotor combined with some b20 parts or custom. and be done. 3s that much more faster. maybe ill just experiment with some motors rather than arguing.

Just pay Mazda $50k for an R26B if they'll even sell you one...
Then make sure you have a rear seat model, cuz you'll be sitting it! :rlaugh:

Would you bother adding on two more cylinders on a V8 to make it a V10?

Get a 4th engine, make em peripheral and then put one engine on each wheel :)

Not necessarily stacking rotors is more for people who want more out of their car while still keeping it a rotary car i plan on stacking 2 more on my rx8

you can glue the engines together and sit on it, making "vroom vroom" sounds.

Stack rotors is VERY easy if you know how.
Bring motors to Itsukushima Shinto shrine at low tide near Hiroshima where rotary motor is born. Position all motors to be stacked front to back- this step very important to get right. Locate shrine Miko (lady wearing old time clothes). This lady knows ritual to stack rotaries into multirotor. Have ready your Hitobashira- this is person to exhange for life of your multirotor. Never let one drop of oil or coolant seep into the shrine grounds or all your motors turn into individual renesis motors instead of multirotor at completion of ceremony.

If motors are not running condition additional sacrifices will occur during ceremony.
example-
1 life each apex seal
1 future each coolant seal
1 past each side seal
1 body part each bearing
1 pet each rotor
1 love each rotor housing
1 sense each side housing
1 memory each seal spring
etc

You do not choose or supply these, it is just result of ceremony- but each will befall someone you know.
