Special Tools for the 13b-rew
 

Hi i dont know where else to go to try to find these tools to work on my '94 13b engine. The parts are:
1) a ring gear brake(for prevention of engine rotation(it meshes with the flywheel)) the part # from the factory service manual is 49 F011 101
2) tubular dowel puller part # 49 0813 215A
there is an oil seal remover and it looks like it has a pick on one end and i was wondering if this is at all special or if i could just use a generic o-ring/seal remover?

If there are any special tools that i need too work on the engine that anyone knows of i would appreciate being informed. i have no idea where else to go for these tools

Don't need it.
Use an impact gun on the flywheel nut for the rear.
Use an impact gun on the big front eccentric shaft bolt on the front - HINT: do this BEFORE removing the engine from the car; shift the trans into 5th to help with resistance.


Don't need it - if the engine isn't warped, they should pull right out.
You can use your favorite lubricant (i.e. WD-40, Liquid Wrench, P'Blaster) to help.
On an FC, you can use the engine mount bolts, cause it uses the same thread - dunno if the FD can do the same thing?

I just use a big flathead screwdriver - the seals are going to be replaced so it doesn't matter if you damage them on removal. :)

hey thnx for tips but for removing the big front bolt for the eccentric shaft (my only real problem) is that the engine is out of the car...i bought just the engine and i have no car...so now how should i do it? also i dont have a flywheel...sounds like a problem to me

Cross you fingers and try the impact gun.
You might need to step up to a really big impact gun - 3/4" drive or 1" drive if you got access to one.
The 13B-REW front bolt can be REALLY stubborn.
If all else fails, torch it - use MAPP or acetelyne, if you have access to it.

1st of all i really appreciate your advice. But i dont know wut to do again...I'm totally stuck. i have a long breaker bare and 4ft pipe so i got that undercontrol but i have no way of holding the eccentric shaft. and i dont have a flywheel...say i was to get a flywheel wut should i use to stop it? im so screwed right now. can anyone think of anything? PLEASE!

I'd try and haul the engine to some shop that has a big impact gun - that's would be easiest and quickest.

Else, you need to find the heaviest guy that's willing to stand on the motor to keep it in place...

We firstgenners simply use a bolt that threads in and give that a good yank. If that doesn't work its easy to use 2 more bolts and a nut to make a puller. The FB lug bolts are the same thread IIRC.
