the motor mounts are set up weird on MR2's i would think it would cost a shit load of moeny to do it.

You can get a Cadillac Northstar engine to fit in a Fiero so a rotary in a little MR2 shouldn't be a problem. Depending on how you do it that would be one fast little car.

aren't RX-7 considered frount mounted mid-engines since all of the engine is behind the frount wheels? thats what mazda says about the RX 8
