smoke....
Do all rx7s with no rx7 oil metering pump (running 1oz be gallon and not cat)smoke?
(only on idle) new engine new turbo engine we have done oil, water and completion test all good turbo has the manufacturers oil feed and return using motul 10-40 synthetic using idemitsu pre mix oil temps under 85c water under 85c smoth idle 850rpm any ideas.... btw the engine only has 200km on it |
Mine smokes at start and idle for a few seconds then the smoke dissipates.
|
dissipates but still there?
|
No, as in its gone.
|
and u have similar spec as me?
|
If it only has 200km and it all specs out with good temps and compression. Drive it. Could just need to seat the seals. Mine got better every time I drove it.
|
Pretty much the same with a little more done and running 20w50 oil instead and premix is just valvoline tcw3. I'm switching to amsoil 20w50 and one of their 2 stroke oils at 5k miles though.
|
300km in to the running the engine in and still a lot off smoke only on idle...
:( any ideas why or any one with similar... |
|
come on man rx7club is dead???
there are no rx7 people left in hear? I read threats with so many reply and here is like looking in the dark to find u No one can share there ideas or experience ? |
you made it sound like you were able to send signals to Greece at idle.
if the engine is performing great otherwise (and you haven't mentioned anything of that nature), then maybe try running a little less premix in your next fill-up and see if it stops. |

what do you mean? That I don not have a lot off smoke? I have smoke that if u are in in a close space with the car on u will have cancer in 3 minuets on traffic lights every one is pointing at me coz out of my buck there is a barbeque... that's why im asking in the video u can not see a lot off smoke because there is a lot of wind

I do not have the oem injectors I do not have any engine problems Im not missing oil or water and my temps are amazing compretion of the engine is 110psi afr is good!! |
well, I don't see any reason you would lie about what you just described, but you do realize that the smoke didn't start until about 42 seconds and it wasn't much thereafter. I can appreciate wind and all that, but it is the video YOU posted as evidence and it's all myself (or anyone else) has to use as a visual gauge of your issue.
I was not suggesting you RUN less that the generally recommended 1 oz. per gallon, I said see if it stops. how else are you going to confirm that it IS the premix that's causing it and NOT something else? |
1oz/gallon premix isn't enough to smoke. If you only have like 180 miles on the engine there's probably still a lot of assembly lube and junk that needs to get worked out, it sounds fine.
If it's still smoking that much after being warmed up at 1000miles then it's probably a different story. |
so can I use less than 1oz for normal driving for couple off tanks to see if its that?
Or maybe I have residue of premix in my tank after 3 years of using premix? |
Drain the tank and run the car on straight fuel with no premix.it wont hurt anything at low revs or idle.
Im from a country where we dont use imperial nightmare systems:scratch: so we work in ratios of fuel compared to oil.It seems common on here for people to use 1 gallon and add 1 oz of oil.Im not sure what that works out to on a metric ratio. Ratios id recommend are 100:1 for track or strip work and would go 200:1 for street use. As the motor is fresh you really need to get some ks(miles) on it before you can diagnose further. If a car is smoking excessively id check in order of motor, turbo then premix.currently your motor is fresh and cant be ruled out until its had some running time. As stated it doesnt look bad in the vid but if you think its too bad to drive just let it idle in the garage for a good 30 mins. |
how come stock oem the fd is like 50ml per 20L AND when we not use the oem every one uses
1oz ber gallon? |
because it works? :dunno:

1oz ber gallon? its not perfect. 1oz per gallon is the General consensus of HEY my engine didnt blow. and good lubrication . I would NOT go any less then that . if the engine is new as you say . I would talk to the builder / company who sold you it . and let them know what is going on just incase it is a badly seated seal . or a mistake on the build They know it happened before warranty runs out . also are you losing fluids?? since you have no OMP how is your oil ? and what about water? |
Is your crankcase vented by means of a catch can etc?
|
Yes my oil is where it was 500km before
Yes water is full never wend down for the last 500km Yes i have a big oil cach tank with filter and am vending from 2 places one from engine and one from where we putoil Im using motul 6100 for running the engine in I have very good afr on idle 13.5-14 Turbo is new and i check the cold and hot side for oil and its ok no oil Sparks are new Oil temp on cruzing 80-85c Water temp 80-85 Air temp 40c (this temps are in summer 45c) Ive been using for the last 3 years idemitsu premix 1oz ber gallon It was allways smoking and even now with new engine new turbo the same!!! |
so can I go 50ml per 20 liters for a wile so I can see if its the premix smoking?
|
???
|
Drain the tank and use no oil in the fuel for low rpm testing. Also check the sump vacumn system. There should be a vacumn source hooked up to your catch can.
